I've got this in silver. It's a good microwave. Reheats really quickly. I got it from ao.com so I could choose Sunday delivery.

Word of warning, these rust internally after a year or so of use. Have a look at the comments on previous deals for this model (or very similar both white & silver) as a few people including myself have had this issue.

quidco for sales when a voucher code is used states 1% so i presume SHARP10 is a voucher code, so not 5% as stated if SHARP10 is used.

My parents have the silver version for a few years. It has rusted on the lower part behind the door. The microwave nearly packed in a while ago. However it was discovered the air vents at the rear had accumulated a lot of fluff. After removing this from the vents the microwave has been going strong again for several months. I wonder if the build up of fluff over the air vents means the steam isn't dispersed properly causing the reported rusting?

Ours did exactly this, it happened in less than a year. I won't be buying another Sharp microwave again.

Are they even Sharp?

Got a "Sharp" Combi from Argos recently and it was a vestal (Didn't even know they made microwaves, but apparently they do)

I'm half expecting people to discover that the steaks they're buying at Aldi aren't actually Angus but in fact Vestal.

Heh, I knew a lot of lower end TV's are Vestal regardless of the brand on them, didn't know they also made microwaves.

To be honest It's a microwave, as long as it works properly and cooks as expected I'm not bothered that it's vestal.

Exactly the same on ours, I think the problem was not leaving the microwave open for an hour or so after use to let it air out - not that we've had that problem with previous microwaves. If yours is rusty where the lower door seal meets the body of the microwave I would be very careful when using it.

Of course they are NOT Sharp. For Europe, Sharp licensed their brand name out to Vestel. So Vestel make & sell Sharp branded microwaves.

As for stuff rusting through, well the consumer protection laws require items to last a reasonable length of time. If the product rusts though within ~5 years, take it to the shop and demand your money back.

I wonder if the zero power setting needs to be frequently run on this model to avoid/delay the rusting issue. It just means the fan operates without any heating.

This is cleaning tip I found from the manual online:

For easier cleaning of your oven:
Place half a lemon in a bowl, add 300ml (1/2 pint) water and heat on 100% for 10 -12 minutes.
Wipe the oven clean using a soft, dry cloth.

Unsure whether my parents should go for the same Sharp model again or go with the KENWOOD K25MB14 or KENWOOD K25MW14 from Currys. I bought a KENWOOD K25MB14 for about £70 about a year ago. Currently the white version is £74.99; black is £149.99 but often it goes ~half price. Aesthetically the white version does look a little different in the images to the black version. For example the button to open the door is more curved on the white version; and the operating buttons are more oval shaped. Strange they say they are the same item. To me they should have different model numbers instead of just changing the B to a W.
