Shaun Of The Dead (dvd) - £3.99 delivered @ HMV
HMV review : A British zomblie flick that's both romantic and funny? Sounds utterly daft, until you know that it's delivered by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright - the dazzling minds behind Britcom "Spaced". Inspired by the memorable "Resident Evil" scene in that very show, "Shaun Of The Dead" is the world's first 'romzomcom' and it's blooming brilliant. Penn is Shaun, the world's most useless boyfriend, stuck in a dead end job and complete with serious personal baggage. Still living with his best mate Ed, and with a limited-to-his-local social life, things aren't going too well. Sadly, things are about to get far worse as the streets fill with the undead. Will he ever notice? Is 12" vinyl really a weapon? And, most importantly of all, can dogs look up?
"Shaun Of The Dead" contains moments of absolute comedy genius, including the best use of a Queen song in cinema history. Not only is there an abundance of visual gags, but the script is as intelligent and self-referential as "Spaced" was. The bigger a fan of the genre you are, the more you will get out of it as their are parodies a plenty. George A. Romero is a huge fan and so will you be - pick up your copy now!
