The picture on blu ray is not that great imo, it's about the same as the dvd .
#3
Not HD sound I believe. Have to buy the US version.

Still great price though.

Gosh, how many times has this film been on TV??? no need to buy a dvd.. It is a classic good film. Heat added.
#9
best film ever made. Deserves its own tv channel playing it on a consistant loop :)

Not sure about the picture quality though as to whether it warrants an upgrade from dvd. Still if youve never bought it before, no better reason than now! HOT!
#10
i agree, not the best transfer on blu ray, but still, classic film. Heat added

Yes, but with rentals of time matchines still coming in at over £2.50 a day, this has to be the best deal for those who don't already own one

CDWow aren't that reliable when it comes to region coding tho, and not guaranteed to get your order (as per philmitchell's post on that thread)

I've two ordered - and they're 'Pending Dispatch'... I'm in no rush for it!

Does anyone know whether US Blu-ray discs will play on UK players? ie. are they region coded like DVDs? Cheers.

Some are, some are not!

As a Blu-ray buyer, this should be in your bookmarks!

Just be aware that the case for this movie is thinner than normal blu-ray cases!

It really annoys the OCD parrt of me

Depends on where you order it from. One of the manufacturers ran this free with the purchase of their blu-ray player, and in order for people to be able to tell it was a freebie, it's made thinner. Samsung did the same with Casino Royale and a few others. Anything they have left over after the promo just gets sold back to the distributor who then send it on to retail stores. I got my usual sized case from Amazon, and have seen the fatter case in HMV too.

Chances are Asda bought the remainers in bulk which is why they can offer a more reduced price. :)

Interesting info OneGuysLife, thanks..... I'm with Kayzee on that one too. HMV online are currently passing off the slim boxed version, unsealed, as 'new'.... I bought this from them last week.... So it's going on eBay - as it's a real cheapo-looking release compared to the excellent 3 disc edition on DVD, and to be honest, it doesn't look any better than the DVD does when upscaled. Just my opinion though ;-)

Great deal on an awesome movie! Makes me cry everytime!

watched it on Blu-Ray!! Amazing movie!!!

Voted cold - DVD was free with the Sunday Times the other day and is fine quality, no need for a film like this to be in any better quality. The only people who say blu-ray is so much better than standard DVD are the people who have spent hundreds of pounds and need to justify it to themselves :p

not true. if you cant tell the difference between bluray and dvd you must be blind. also, upscaled does not equal bluray standard. voted hot
