Next best atm £10.49.
City Banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is in Shawshank State Prison after receiving a double life sentence for murder. There he meets Red (Morgan Freeman) and also forms friendships with the warden and prison guards. Andy soon finds that you either get on with living or you get on with dying.

Adapted from a novella taken from Stephen King's 'Different Seasons' (a collection of stories that would also spawn STAND BY ME and APT PUPIL), THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION marked the first foray into the realms of the writer for director Frank Darabont. In the years since the release of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, Darabont has directed two other King Adaptations, THE GREEN MILE and THE MIST. Considered to be a financial failure upon its release, and overshadowed by PULP FICTION and FORREST GUMP at the Oscars, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION has since been re-evaluated as something of a modern classic.

EVER household should own a copy of this!
EVER household should own a copy of this!

I wonder if there is a household that doesnt.
I wonder if there is a household that doesnt.

I have 2 copies on DVD. Do I need one on Blu-Ray too???
I picked this up in WHSmith (instore) for a fiver, so worth wandering down to have a look! it was half price in their blu ray clearance section....
Wrong. This is a truly stupid movie.

Robbins keeps his teeth in the washroom? Huh? In the real world he'd have had all his teeth mashed out just for daring to threaten to bite.

Robbins proceeds to dig a huge tunnel with a toffee hammer and hides the entrance behind a Marilyn Monroe poster? No one ever heard the tap-tap-tapping in the dead of night or questioned the tons of spoil? You can't dig with a hammer anyway.

This isn't even a good movie let alone a great one. Pure schmaltzy fantasy. Ugh.

Have you even seen this movie? Because if you have you cannot of been paying much attention.

yeah :whistling: LOL

i had it on widescreen VHS (had to get it ordered in at hmv for £16.49!) then on vannila dvd, 3 disc dvd then blu ray!

wonder if it'll go 3D?
brilliant film ....
Brilliant movie. Is it worth a Blu-Ray upgrade, or is there no real difference from DVD? Some old movies get cleaned up and remastered well, some seem exactly the same or worse.

Cheers - if you don't own it, definatly worth a buy on BD or DVD (you can normally pick it up for £3-£4 new on DVD)

EDIT: I was just being lazy, here is a Blu-Ray review for you to see -
Apparently this is worth getting on Blu-Ray, if you are willing to pay £7 to upgrade from your DVD copy, or don't own it at all (THE HORROR!!!)
I'm happy to upgrade my DVD version (which is only stereo and a flipper - anybody remember those!?).

lol at spionkiop deleting their post once they realised what a fool they made of themselves

imagine if every film had the actors losing their teeth for the rest of the film after a scrap! And anyone could get through a 1 foot thick wall given 10 years to do it :)

mind you, I;ll wait till this hits £2.99 before upgrading my dvd
