As with the previous deal I posted this won't appeal to everyone but having one of the greatest movies ever (IMHO) released as a steelbook will be hard for some to resist.
Release date is 22nd October. Final artwork not yet known.

Jump to unread Post a CommentTo clarify the rumour. Dark Knight fans hated down Godfather so that Dark Knight got briefly to number 1 until Godfather fans hated down Dark Knight. If true it probably says more about the maturity of those films supporters than the quality of Shawshank.
You can check for yourself how true that may be as you can see the vote breakdown for each film. As at today Godfather had 26838 haters and the Dark Knight 18266. Shawshank has 20431. The haters against Godfather doesn't seem that disproportionate.
Add into that that only the regular voters influence the top 250 and that IMDB uses a weighted average scheme I doubt if the mechanics were as simple as the Godfathers fans suggest.
IMO Shawshank is there on merit. 90.9% of voters gave Shawshank 8 to10 whereas 86.6% gave Godfather 8 to 10.
Like it or not a film has become the worlds favourite with little studio or critical support. Imagine if it had had the hype or 'lovey' support of some other films!

Just checked IMDB again - Shawshank had a 9.3 rating when you click on it, but only 9.2 on the Top 250 list page. Weird.

It's because only 'regular' voters count for the top 250.
I too have never understood the Godfather ranking. It's a good film but hugely blokey. If you look at the voting men rank it higher than women but hardly any women vote so they are statistically fairly irrelevant. If it was balance by gender then Godfather would be way behind Shawshank which is ranked similarly by both men and women.
