I cancelled after reading the reviews. This is apparently not the remastered version (which by all accounts is excelent picture quality) but an earlier set with public domain versions (ie all soft and grainy). If i end up being wrong though I shall kick myself, repeatedly

I got the HMV one in store a few weeks ago. It has only recently dropped in price, which will be why they are now flogging off the unrestored ones. Basil Rathbone was born to be Sherlock Holmes (though J Brett was excellent too).
