The hangman did his job, Dr. Watson declared the condemned man dead…yet Lord Blackwood has emerged from the tomb to assert his deadly will over 1890 London. Is he in league with the forces of hell itself? Is the whole Empire in peril? It’s a mystery macabre – and only Sherlock Holmes can master it.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law put memorable imprints on Holmes and Watson in this bold new reimagining that makes the legendary sleuth a daring man of action as well as a peerless man of intellect. Baffling clues, astonishing Holmesian deductions, nimble repartee, catch-your-breath scenes of one slam thing after another – director Guy Ritchie helms the excitement reintroducing the great detective to the world. Meet the new Sherlock Holmes!

Was £4.99 in Sainsburys only last month, on Amazon and Play too. It'll go back down. No heat but still a good price.

I noticed that too. Picture is definately of the DVD, and price seems rather good for Bluray. Let's hope it's the picture that's wrong rather than the description.
#8
Just to add further, look at the region code, it says 2. Blu-rays don't have numbered region codes.

I think that the one you linked includes both the DVD and the Bluray version whereas this one is just the Bluray.
#10
It's not rocket science. The web page is quite clear. This is for the blue ray version.

Pathetic 'company'. Ordered a dvd boxset around 5 weeks ago still nothing and useless customer service.

'Sainsbury's Entertainment website operates a buy to order process and
therefore certain products we advertise we do not keep in stock.
As soon as a customer places an order then we request this item to be sent
to our warehouse from our suppliers.'

It like you asking me to get you something, they dont have anything, and then cant get it. Im livid with them.

I think this is the DVD. Here is the 'correct' blu-ray.[url=" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.sainsburysentertainment.co.uk/en/Films-TV/Blu-ray/Guy-Ritchie/Sherlock-Holmes-2009-DVD/product.html?product=E10342054

I do know that, but there is no other DVD version of Sherlock Holmes on the Sainsburys website. Very strange that Sainsburys would sell 2 blu-rays of Sherlock and no DVD version.

It's obvious is it ?

Well, its got a DVD cover, it says Region 2 and for the sound it says DD 5.1, when the blu-ray does DTS-HD Master sound, would show Region B and would show the blu-ray cover.

Whats the obvious bit about it that you see ? Format: BLU-RAY ? If your going for that over every single other part of it being for the DVD then its blatantly obvious, why didnt I see it before.

Excellent find & a great film - Heated !!

Have contacted sainsburys after buying this and its on its way ,it appears they have made a mistake and that it is actually the DVD now in my opinion the fact that it is described as a Blu Ray means once they send it and take payment a contract exists between the two parties and you should receive a blu ray copy. i have taken a screenshot of the link to prove it was described as blue ray and intend to send it back and ask for the blu ray to be sent.
the guy i spoke to at sainsburys agrees with me funily enough and has given me a freepost return address so i dont have to pay postage this is as follows

hope that helps anyone who has bought it allready

if you go to the original link it says ...type:blueray
therefore thats the description of the product and an offer of sale..... if they send a DVD and take your money then the advert for sale is a missdiscription and comes under the sale of goods act.In any case under distance selling regulations there is a cooling off period where you can cancel the order and recieve a full refund however you have to pay to send it back. However i am not canceling the order but using my rights under the sale of goods act to get them to send the film as described as a blueray and see how i get on !!!

The specification might describe it as a DVD but the main page clearly says Blu-ray.Most people who look at the website page would think that is a Blu-ray and this is what I expect to recieve if they have taken payment.

Almost ordered this myself the other day but found the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy for £9.99 and went for that as it also should have the lenticular sleeve.

The spec, the price, the artwork, the only thing that pointed to this being blu-ray was that it was in the blu-ray section, that's all.

It was clear as day that this was a DVD. If you or anyone else cant see it, it's because you are simply in denial and want this for £5.99.

It's in the Blu-ray section for gods sake...Sorry I forgot that I should be checking artwork on every DVD and Blu-ray that comes out.If they send me a DVD I will ask for the Blu-ray version of it at this price as it was in the........wait for it...Blu-ray section.

Tell you what, goto Tesco or wherever, take a blu-ray off the shelf and put it in the DVD section, then go tell the staff there that because this was in the DVD section you want to pay that price. LOL.

I've met some chancers in my time, but this is classic.

Well if I went to Tesco and actually had hold of the film then I would know that it was a DVD and would have no need too argue about it or ask for the Blu-ray version soo that would be silly now..wouldn't it?But I have ordered this movie online and it was in the Blu-ray section..so guess what I expect a Blu-ray film!!Crazy chancer that I am..just a bit like the rest of the people on here that still go for a deal when they know it's a misprice and little chance of getting it!

Apart from having a region code in the specifications does it say anywhere that it is a DVD ?

Home/Films & TV/Blu-Ray
Blu-Ray
Format: Blu-Ray
also with a couple blu-ray offer links up the right hand side of the page.

Surely anyone who's bought this has every reason to expect a blu-ray to arrive and not a dvd ?

Don't get him started again..he will be telling you that it is obvious because of the artwork and a load of other tosh and were the idiots for expecting a Blu-ray movie out of the Blu-ray section...unless of coarse if I put it there in Tesco..X)

And when the DVD arrives Sainsbury's will be getting contacted asking why it says Blu-ray on the main page and that is what I thought that I had bought.I like others took a screen shot of the page and now I see it has been taken down so who is are the one's that have fecked up??Think you will find it is Sainsbury's and everyone that has ordered has a good chance of getting the Blu-ray version out of this.No one doubted that it could have been a DVD but there was a chance that it also could have been the Blu-ray for that price. Not sure why you have gone out of your way so much to prove it's a DVD if you never ordered it in the first place and you new for sure that it was a DVD??

Received my DVD (NOT bluray) today. Wrote back to them to swap it with bluray version at no extra cost.

PS: OP please remove bluray from the title. Its misleading.
#38
I received a DVD version of this through the post today. I phoned up and mentioned that I bought it in the sale and that I had ordered the BLU RAY version not the DVD. The man was very nice and helpful, he gave me a freepost address to send the DVD back to and said the BLU RAY version will be shipped on Tuesday at no cost. Hope this helps someone, no need for anyone to get upset!
#39
Just rang myself and was also told that they will be honoring the blu-ray version and was given the freepost address.
God knows how long it'll take for a replacement though because he said 100's had ordered this and that they would not start sorting out replacements until Tuesday, no mention of the blu-ray actually being sent then.
