If it has 9 gears on the cassette, yes.

it has 7 will it still work

Should work - it's your shifter that controls the stepping.

Heat added - I've reserved one to replace the well-worn (10K miles +) Alivio rear mech on my tourer.

Might as well pick up the front derailleur for a fiver while getting the rear & shifters!

Sorry I thought I was looking at the shifters post I made -- I'd recommend against it because your chain will most likely be a bit too fat for a mech designed for 8/9 speeds. At this price you can try it, I guess -- I personally wouldn't mix it that way.

Its not long since I changed my road bike but this will be either a spare or for my mountain bike

Reserved both.
Many thanks

"none in stock" sometimes means "I'll 'ave that!"

Are you implying girls don't make money on eBay? Fair enough.

Same here - also the got the M590 front deraillieur rather than the M530.

Just kidding, heat added. Thanks!

Yeah, just been for mine and got a 591. Don't need the shifters since it's replacing a well-worn Alivio on my tourer, which has Sora STI levers.
