Went for size 45 in the end as apparently shimano come up a bit small (usually a size 9 uk), good that returns are free! Nice one.

Yep - general advice with Shimano shoes is go up one size. Has always worked for me and they have fitted perfectly.

Have to admit I was surprised that all sizes were available at this price cos usually it is FROM and popular sizes are considerably more.

Chain Reaction is also an excellent online company IMO.

    Don't forget 3% TCB / Quidco

Bought most of the stuff I've used to recondition my ancient MTB from CR and have to say they've been fantastic! Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Tempted, but do I really need another pair of mtb shoes?

These ones look better and only show up via the sale filter and not the main MTB Shoes page for some reason...

    £10 more... at £49.99

I have just taken up cycling and am sorely tempted, but can anyone recommend a set of pedals. I'm quite confused with the whole pedals and shoes business, ATM i'm just cycling about 60 miles a week in trainers.

I have a road bike, and somewhat new to the sport.
can anyone reccomend some road shoes from this site?

Or would these be ok to use?

These would be fine, just get yourself some M520's and you're good to go :)

If you go for the OP shoes you can't go wrong with the Shimano M520 pedals. They're a great entry level pedal and I have been using them for a couple of years on my road bike.

I've just brought the upgraded version of those pedals for my second bike as they are so simple to use and they just work with no faffing.

With these shoes you will want shimano M520 or equivilant pedals. If you buy road shoes however (3 screw holes instead of MTB shoes which have 4 screw holes) then you will need road pedals like the R540 SPD SL :)

Whilst these shoes are mountain biking shoes there is no reason you can't use them on a road bike, just make sure you get SPD pedals not SPD-L pedals as the cleat hole alignment is not the same.

I use mountain biking shoes/pedals on my road bikes as I like the fact I can actually walk around in my shoes when I get off the bike, especially if you're out of weekend rides to pubs etc ;)

    I found BikeRadar pretty good.

Agreed with bike radar, the forums are very helpful

I am also new to the MTB scene and recently bought a VooDoo Bantu which I mainly use for road cycling. Would these shoes and the M520 pedals mean that my feet are "locked in" or can you easily remove your foot from the pedal i.e. when you stop at a road crossing etc?
    Apologies for the noob question!
    Good deal btw OP.
