Just spotted these brakes at Chain Reaction, no rotor or lever must most shimano stuff is interchangeable.
These are the top of the range brakes that Shimano make. A bargain for £30, if I hadn't just bought a full set of Deore's I would have jumped at these. Front and rears available.

Shimano's mono-body caliper was designed to give its users a lightweight caliper while delivering strong braking power & maintaining controllable modulation.

Super lightweight Mono-body design

Pretty specialist kit for this forum, why not post on Bike Radar.

Fantastic price though and a great upgrade.

HOT - although my bike has hub brakes, so not really going to be of much use to me.

Back last year when the UK had floods, CRC got flooded. A lot of stock's boxes got damaged and marked as flood sale.
IIRC it comes with a promise that if you're not satisfied with the condition when you receive, you can send back for a full refund :)

Great upgrade if you have compatible discs, forks/frame etc.

WOW! I am having trouble with one of my Giant MPH calipers. This could be the ideal replacement!

Just make sure that these are big enough to replace your existing ones...

[that was a joke BTW :whistling:]

My kid has a Giant Rock with V Brakes just now. Could I install these instead?

^^^ possibly, but:
1. fork / frame / wheels would need to be able to take disc brakes
2. you would need rotors/levers/hoses as well, and fit/bleed them.
3. price is just for one caliper - would need front and back

to be honest, XTR are overkill unless you know you need them. if you did want to go disc, first get a local shop to tell you what you needed to do this (might need new wheels, or at least new hubs, even if your frame/fork will take it) . then buy a whole set (e.g. £105 for LX set on Merlin Cycles - http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=807&categoryId=115)

in short - if you need to ask if this deal is what you need, this deal is not for you ;)

good deal if you need it tho!

*edit* - i googled Giant Rock - there is no point spending the money it would take to put disc brakes on that bike. if you feel you need them, be cheaper/better to buy another bike that already has them.

I run XT hydraulics front and back on my GT and if they're anything to go by these will be fantastic. Great thing with them is that pad replacement is SO simple and they just feel powerful but with enough control throughout the lever stroke.
Great buy for those that need them or want them. I can't justify them tho as my XT's are more than adequate

if anyones interested, iirc shimano and avid callipers/levers aren't compatible with each other. Shimano uses mineral oil and avid uses dot fluid (might just be on the juicy line, can't remember). And i'm pretty sure they use different fittings too.

Just a word of warning, check compatibility with you existing setup if you're looking at these

To be honest by the time you have put hoses on them, bought levers and discs , then bled them you could have bought these juicy 5s or the 7 s for a bit more. And those xtr calipers have been £30 for last few yrs iirc so maybe old stock

Think I would rather have a top of the range Shimano brake for less than a mid range Avid to be honest.

Great price for great brakes - got these on one of my bikes. I've paid more for XT V-brakes .
