What I still find astonishing is how much the roaming charges are outside EU. £1.50/min is ridiculous and all it does is push people to using 2nd SIMs etc. Back in 2002 I was being charged around 50p/min in the US by T-Mobile so how it can now be 3 times the price is stupid. I'll be using a 3 sim when I go there later in the year so EE get nothing whereas if they had a reasonable tariff they would get some money from me.

Was trying to find a previous bill but alas having "upgraded" to EE can't access the old bills which would have shown a potential £42k bill to roam in the US dwindled down to £28.

It's a good deal in terms of the amount of data you get, but the amount you pay still adds up - you'll pay £21 for a weeks holiday. That's almost how much I pay monthly (with the phone)!
Sure but find me a roaming deal that offers 4G data AND allows tethering for less
Not arguing the deal, have already said its a good deal (and heated it) for the amount of data you get but the point still stands that its a pricey solution when all you want to do is use whatsapp, use maps, emails etc when on holiday, especially when many destinations have poor 4G reception outside the big cities (Berlin, great city, rubbish 4G for example).
If you need that much data at that speed then that's fine, but maybe you should consider a business tariff if you're going to use it for business?
Either way, its a moot point, it's only in place for one year then EE will finally be forced to let us use our allowances when abroad. Let's hope they don't come up with some bs caveats around it.

That's fine. I just find it ironic that I used to have on T-Mobile an unlimited, worldwide 30-day data bolt-on for just £15/mth and that now in 2016, with faster speeds and more users we have reduced tariffs but hiked up prices, even though in most European countries, UK mobile networks have subsidiaries.

4g or 3g who cares how long something takes to load when your sat in a bar, on the beach or by the pool. Still better of getting a tesco pay and go sim this summer sticking a tenner on it and changing that to the 2gb data bundle.

I care because I don't go abroad to "sit in a bar" but to work. The Tesco deal does not offer tethering.

The Xiaomi yi can be had for around the £40-£50 mark and it performs fairly well. It has wifi too so I would imagine you could tether it. I have a gopro hero 3+ silver currently and that was only £150 at the time. It outperforms this camera by a fair bit. Not sure live streaming is something most people would need/want the majority of the time. I prefer to edit my videos before deciding to upload and rarely have a mobile phone signal if I'm mountain biking, surfing or snowboarding anyway. This camera seems like a very niche product, it's not very high spec and is expensive for what it is compared to potential rivals.
kos1c
I remember the ee staff in Beckton trying hard to sell me this camera when it was £50 upfront and £10/20 a month forgot which. They lied about specs and everything.

Fortunately, I wasn't a fool and told them I'd research it more before considering it. I loved the idea for an action cam to live stream, but the poor specs compared to a hero 3 black at the time was laughable.

I wouldn't take an action camera with anything less than 60fps for standard video, 120 for slow motion, 240 for super slow. (I skateboard and 30 fps is just crap for smooth skateboarding video).
worthinger
2gb data isn't going to live stream much in HD.

In case anyone else is having the same problem:

I took this deal 2 weeks ago at the end of my T mobile deal. New sim arrived 4 or 5 days later, inserted it, they ported my old T mobile number over. all good.
However:
10 days later I still have a ZERO data allowance showing on my phone and in my EE account.
They blamed my new Iphone, my settings, the local mast.. everything

They finally admitted tonight that they did NOT port it across properly and need to do it again tonight (I was on 3g,this deal is 4gee and in the porting they screwed up that bit of the transfer.
They were forced into admitting it as (their words) "thousands of people have complained of the same problem, forcing them to go back to basics and check all aspects of their porting procedure..

So if your having similar problems, phone them now, as they finally know what to do and can fix it with another re-port

i got the £16.49 deal as when i called to order the sim card it was had not arrived and 7days had already passed so they advisor said to go a purchase a payt sim card and he would lower the price plan due to the wait. i do hear a lot of people saying EE are worst for customer services but to be fair i was with them before but had to change to another network as moved house but now there service is faster in our area as they have just add a new mast...and lets face it how many times you going to call EE customer service i call them 3 times last year. All networks have there good and bad points...look at HMRC they are the worst for customer services (so they say) but how would i know that i have never needed to call them

Because it's only ever worked for people who have received a text about it. So the people who will get it will already know about it, and the rest of us are wasting our time even trying.

EE is the only network for me I'm afraid. I used to be on Vodafone and while 2G was absolutely unbeatable, their 4G and even 3G was absolutely woeful.

I think it seems I'll be best sticking it out on 10gb at least until the new iPhone is out so I get the choice of phone or sim only.

Deeny, I'm kinda talking about the main 4g BB deal.
I'm a current EE customer out of contract on sim only (10gb for £17 with 40% friends and family, which will drop to 30% if I change anything on the line).
So I currently have a PAC code, waiting for a call to make me change my mind, but I'm going to try and push for more data on 30day contract AND the 4g deal for nearer £25 than the current £30.13.
Just wondered if I have a chance!
Hi
If its 4G data only you need, with you being an existing customer you should get £25.00
see my post #28 & use the 1st phone number, as I say it often depends on who you speak to at EE! If you cant strike a deal hang up & phone back.
It appears data prices are going down so a one month rolling would be better to take advantage of future offers available.
Cheers
I'd do £25 a month on rolling, but I thought thaty was 12 monther for a new line?
When I rung at the weekend I kept getting disconnected but will try again.
How are you using this in a phone tethering or a mi-fi modem? I'm guessing modem if you were using 100GB sims
Also what kind of amounts of data per month did you get through with the Christmas / Summer 100GB sims?
Cheers
Two items pal..
1) 10gb unlimited everything in my phone
2) 100gb sims in an OLD buzzard USB 'car wifi' plugged into the wall giving out wifi to the house.
Used 100gb one month, the rest about 50gb. Around 60gb?

Hi
If this is going to be your #1 internet source you need at least 50GB from what you've said.
A 1 month rolling sounds essential as you may need 100GB in the future.
So I would aim as you say for £25 to £30 on a one month rolling.
I think you need to invest in a decent 'mi-fi' modem this one is the best:
Huawei Unlocked B315 4G/ LTE 150 Mbps Mobile Wi-Fi Router (Genuine UK Stock)- White https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013P15G4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_gWIdxbSA5ZJ0B
It was £130.00 when I bought it last September. It takes a full size sim, dont bother with aerials.
Hope that helps.

I left three for this deal and was worried about making the wrong decision, especially as I was offered 30gb for £20 from three. But, the internet on EE has been far superior. I'm getting 50 meg speeds at home, faster than my broadband and faster than the 7meg I was getting in three. I will miss the roaming data when abroad but new European laws being introduced next year will allow roaming at no charge (assuming we say in the EU)

Getting slightly concerned with how EE have dealt with this
My billing information now says I am on a 2 year contract and that it is 34.99
I also just received a text saying that I had previously recieved a text stating that 3 months would be half price and that this was incorrect and my bill will be £19.99 on the above tarif
I'm a little bit worried as I spoke to the billing department and they seemed absolutely clueless...
Anybody else in a similar situation?
Hi Andi,
Here is what mine say's, hope this helps
Your contract dates
Contract starts: 04 Apr 2016
Next upgrade: 19 Feb 2017
Contract ends: 04 Apr 2017
Plan length: 12 months
Your allowances
Included phone minutes: Unlimited
Included SMS texts: Unlimited
Included data: 16 GB
Your payment details
Monthly cost: £29.16 (excluding VAT)
Payment method: Direct Debit

I have this. Ordered at £19.99 but in my plan summary it's £29.16 aka £34.99 inc VAT. Spoke to someone on live chat who had no idea, told me to ring 150. Spoke to someone on the phone who had no idea telling me to email my proof of order to [email protected].

I just phoned them up and explained and they added a £15 credit to my account for the mix up it was because the discounts were added after the bill was generated so we're not applied but I did have to make sure they applied the discount when I first signed up otherwise this would happen every month.

I placed my order on the 13th April, received email order confirmation shortly after. Then received the "..we're processing it at present.." SMS on the 15th, and nothing since. Call to EE this evening and I was told my order hadn't progressed past the credit check (which had passed). Apparently there is a glitch on their system with the automated order fulfillment system. So the lady manually pushed the order through, confirming that the first bill will be shown as £34.99 with two discounts at £5 and £10 applied to bring the total to £19.99. She also said my estimated bill date would be 25/05/2016, so I guess this would be from activation.

Sim card arrived this week. Activated it today and logged into my account to find it is showing £30 per month. First call to EE, I spent 15 minutes on hold for the advisor to come back to me but unable to hear me. I could hear him and he went on to tell me the discount was for 1 month only. I hung up and called back. This time I spoke to someone who knew how to operate their telephone system! She applied the discount and assured me it would be permanent. I had to forward my order email before she knew the offer I was talking about. My account still shows I will be debited £30 at the end of this month, so no doubt I'll be on the phone to them again. Dire customer service.

same happened to me. spent 20 mins on phone to advisor who didn't know anything about the offer. once I'd sent though the confirmation email showing the discounted price they were able to change the billing price.

EE Sales get a pretty **** write for customer support .

Still waiting on delayed sim, approved, EE had the cheek to ask me why when I had a Virgin sim with unlimited mins & and calls why I wanted a EE data sim - as a security check?. I chased them up several times, they said the card used for £2 security deposit and refund was not at the applied address ?? Twice India credit team hung up on me ? ( I was nothing but polite)

Pretty dodgy...further... given my Virgin info on EE wholesale system is absolutely nothing to do with them and they should not have been accessing it.

Well...
I'm a existing mobile data user and I wanted this deal (Good find BTW). So I contact EE and belly ached a little bit and by the end of the telephone conversation, which was somehow short, I ended up with 30Gigs for £10 mounth.
Now thats a shed load of data :D
Same here as I had an existing sim deal!
Chuffed with that, 1GB a day for £10 a month!
Missed out on the £15 deal, and I really need an extra sim with more data. I'm a current EE customer with my mobile phone. Any advice for phoning them up and getting a deal anywhere near 30GB for £10? What did you say to get that?!

Any luck??

I just seen the deal in Carphone warehouse today
for the new SE, £26 / month, 24 months contract and no upfront fees.
£27 for O2 which is £7 more than Tesco or £168 more than the 5S. Or Vodafone for £144 but I'm not a fan..

Either way, makes the phone £400+ so better buying outright.. The thing with the 5S deals is the tariffs amount to the same as buying the phone outright so effectively it's interest free credit

But the SE replaces the 5S... so it will be interesting to see if any shops clear out their 5S stock.
Would rather have this than the SE anyway.

Bit gutted at the contrary pricing of Apple.. didn't bother holding out for the SE as they NEVER release a new phone for £359... Oh well.. would have been worth putting another £60 for the SE, but very happy with the 5S anyway.

I really doubt you'll see the 5S fall in price significantly. When the 4S was dropped from the line it was around the same price... £280.. aside from a couple of goose-chases, it remained at this price until stocks were depleted I checked periodically for a few months after buying one. £240 was around the best offer for the 4S.

Could be wrong of course.. we'll see..

Note: EE take a £50 deposit once this add-on is active. I believe they credit this back to you after a few months of paying in regular bills. This was the case for me (I have recently just signed upto a new paym contract).
If you want this amount back, call them and request it back. This will subsequently turn off this add-on.
Didn't with me (I'm a new EE customer on pay monthly)

I should add that once they may take it once you have made a international call/text with the add-on active. They took a deposit after I made an international call.

Text CALL ABROAD to 441 from your EE mobile and you get a free opt in to cheap call rates to 67 countries worldwide, e.g. Europe 5p/min landlines and 15p/min mobiles; India 5p and 5p. Normal rates are extortionate (around £1) so a good deal for no real effort. Was posted over a year ago but expired (I think they changed the text number).

I went for this very deal and got 10 gigs of data on £40/month as an existing customer. I only paid a tenner upfront.
The actual median value of the speaker+headphones is currently £350. A rather good deal in my book!
Me too

Was £5/month and £40 up-front cheaper than the S7 and when the battery starts to fail, easy to slot in a replacement. With latest internals it should stay snappy for a few years. 8/10 for repairability on ifixit too. Have mine in a case, so design is less of an issue for me. Loads of nonsense about lack of app-drawer - am using Nova launcher anyway, so makes no difference to me. Wide angle camera is fantastic. B&O kit is decent quality. Not £400 good, but easily worth £200. Refreshing lack of crapware pre-installed.
mrhavana
Am I missing something? If you take the full term cost of £970, take away £250 approximate value of bundled accessories and £360 cost of a similar calling plan (at £15 per month), you are left with a net cost of the phone at £360.

Obviously not everyone would be interested in the speaker and earphones, but for those who are, it's a pretty good deal on a new flagship smartphone. Maybe people just don't like the phone?

I went for this last week but got cold feet and cancelled it. If £100 Amazon voucher & TopCashBack came through it would have been a winner...however too many stories of EE not paying up. Having phoned EE to see if the £100 Amazon voucher was likely to come through and no one knowing anything about it, it made my decision to cancel within the 14 day cooling-off period. As a standalone deal without the bonus offers....@ £14.99 tied in for a year it's poor....so not worth the risk as far as I was concerned.

Any1 unlocked this phone?
Is there need to wait for 6 months or can be done asap?
I have unlocked two of the devices. Took only 3-5 days
I filled form for unlocking on 30th March. On 4th April received text msg that "my request is approved and an email has been sent with instructions". No email. Again received same msgs for next 2 days but not email yet. Don't have clue what to do? ll I call them or wait for couple of days?
Check your Junk or spam folder. I did submit an unlock request on 31st and received the unlock code today.
I m checking regularly as it mention in text msgs.
Probably there could be some mistake with the mail id? Call up customer service. They should help u out.
The I'd is right as received email when request unlock. ll call tomorrow. Thanks
No problem. Good luck
Phone call them and they said email sent on 5th April. On telling that one didn't get they take details of device again and said ll send email in 24 or 48 hours. 3 days again no luck.
I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope they don't have wrong email id of yours.
No it is correct as got conformation email when I requested to unlock.

Back in 5, need to find a mop to wipe up the wee.
I didn't think it was possible to laugh so much.

How much, for a Samsung phone worth less than £300 in 2 years with a disjointed OS implementation and probably little Android upgrade path potential. They say Apple fans are idiots.
You get what you pay for, S7 is an incredible phone with more or less every feature you could ever want/need. The camera is beyond amazing, expandable storage and water resistance are very handy, and the free VR headset is far more than a gimmick. As of this post, the 64GB (note: you can't expand that) iPhone 6S is £619, that's the SAME price 5 months on as the S7 edge on release day. The 16GB 6S is the same price as the standard S7.
I understand that some HUKDers think that spending money on a quality product makes you inferior to them whilst they sit there with their Oneplus/Xiaomi phones, but come on dude, at least do some research and realise a phone is obviously going to be expensive when it's quite literally the nicest android phone around. And yes, Samsung CAN justify the early adoption pricing because they will drop a good 10-20% within the first 6 months, and as the company with the biggest market share of all smartphones, it's only good business acumen to take advantage of those wanting a new product before anyone else.
tropicocitwo
Voted hot but I bought the phone outright from Samsung directly, got Vodafone's ultd txt/mins and 20Gb data for £20/month, with the 12 months entertainment pack (worth £80-120 depending on which you take) And £85 quidco.

Or for the medium usage customer it'd be worth considering buying it outright if financially viable.
It's available from appliances direct sim-free from as low as £610 currently:http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/sm-g935fzdabtu/samsung-smg935fzdabtu-galaxy-s7-smartphone?refsource=APadwords&crtag=AP&gclid=Cj0KEQiAsP-2BRCFl4Lb2NTJttEBEiQAmj2tbf59D9wQ2BCA2T-YRm6bcV6ZW4wgBy-k3b7bOmiW9goaAvm28P8HAQ
(Includes £20 discount for trying Which for a quid).
My contract with EE for 3gb of 4G data, 600 mins and unlimited texts costs me £10/month and I've yet to exceed this or get even close. On that basis I'd be saving £140 buying the phone outright but I accept I'd be splashing out up front.

Where did you get that EE price from?
