Still an expensive tent but great value as saving at least £400 from any other supplier. This years model. Tent alone cost £1200 without the carpet and footprint! New air tent technology with no p…

Might be worth checking if gooutdoors do the same package. If they do you can potentially save another 10% using their price match.

Jch- yes they are, the inflatable bits are extremely solid once up. Can't comment on needing topping up as I've only seen them in showrooms but when you consider that the same tents will take 40minutes to put up with poles, a 2 minute top up is nothing.

Your list makes your comment about unnecessary changes seem irrelevant

OK Let's address them one by one:

a) Canvas is cooler in sun, and warmer when it's cold than manmade fabrics. Granted it's heavier, but I'm on about campsite camping next to car.
b) Centre poles you can hang clothes, lights, food etc. on.
c) May be quick to erect, but pack size is large.
d) Only exterior poles may snap in strong winds (so not on a Bell/Ridge tent), even so the tent will stay up, it will just look twisted. It won't deflate ever, and it won't cost £800. :p
^ air the air tents still stable/rigid in high winds ? That is my concern with them - also, do they need "topping up" like the air beds etc seem to do ?

Meh. Just the latest in a long line of "developments" but that actually aren't really developments, just unnecessary changes:

1) Let's get rid of canvas!
2) Let's get rid of central poles that just get in the way, and put them on the outside!
3) Let's have pop-up tents that you just open in seconds and they take ages to pack away!
4) Let's do away with poles altogether and make the bits where the poles would be, inflatable!

Your list makes your comment about unnecessary changes seem irrelevant (no pun intended) as all those improvements seem wholly worthwhile and have ultimately enhanced the camping experience!
Also, my pop tent takes about 10 seconds to put away I'm not sure which one you have been using?
And after camping in very high winds last year, 3 of my poles broke (not on the pop tent) and about a dozen were damaged, to me these air tents make perfect sense even without the added benefit of erecting them in less than 5 minutes.
