how does the 3d compare to an EVO 3d?

It's a lot better than the EVO 3D - that is a camera phone from a company with no decent reputation in making cameras.
This deal is for a compact camera from a manufacturer with a reputation for making excellent cameras - and this camera is no exception.

However, in terms of 3D capabilities, this camera does have some limitations -
1. You can't zoom while filming video in 3D
2. You can't view the images in 3D on the camera itself - you have to put them on a 3D TV or 3D monitor.

Personally I think the Fujifilm W3 is a better 3D camera - the IQ is not quite as good as the Panasonic (& tbh the Fuji camera looks naff), but the "eyes" are further apart & therefore creates a stronger 3D effect. 3D movies are rubbish on the Fuji though - so if you want to make 3D movies, then get the Sony 3D camcorder - HDR TD10 or TD20.
Very helpful comments - thank you. (Together with reading lots of reviews, you helped me make up my mind not to buy this camera!) 8)

OP - great price on this though, well spotted.
Great reviews! Ordered, thanks.

Mine arrived this morning too. Woeful packaging. One box inside a much larger one with no padding between them.

Reasonably impressed although I'm not impressed at all with the manual focussing. I'd be interested to hear what other people find if they try the following:

Go to maximum zoom on an object 5m or so away. Do this inside and set the camera up on a tripod. I'm getting a shutter time of 1 to 1.3 seconds. Manually focus on an object and take a shot. Mine will autofocus fine but won't be sharp manually. If I take off the image stabilisation then it works so perhaps that's a quirk of this lens (or any telephoto for that matter, don't know enough about it). There's a real danger that I might read the manual so I'd be interested in what others have found.

I've only tried it inside so looking forward to having a play with it over the next few days. My suspicion is that this is going to turn out to be a great lens for the money.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up. :)

Theres a lot of talk on the forums about this lens having a major issue with OIS at low shutter speeds causing a double/blurred effect. Mine has arrived now and I am going to test it at the weekend to see if it makes my photos blury when OIS is enabled.

Well I've been using mine regularly and have got the hang of how it works. Here are some fireworks from the weekend taken with it.

The offer has expired as the link now goes to a sold out page.
My brother finds it great cuz its cheap and nasty?, bit of a low blow dont you think,

Anyway, you are comparing chalk and cheese, the tz10 you rave about is a 300 quid camera! lol. this camera is a super compact with more bells and whistles than any smart phone and is considerably smaller, all for less than 70 quid. It aint gonna have a leica lens for that money now is it. for those who want an upgrade to waht there phone does with great hd video recording you cant go wrong

lol, Worst camera panasonic ever made, Did you switch it on?, My brother uses it for the HD 720p video for youtube and its amazing. The specs on this camera poop on anything even the best smartphone can offer. And with smooth 720p video you cant go wrong for 64 quid

Well i have had a panasonic TZ7 and i now have the Panasonic TZ10. The Panasonic - DMC-FP3 doesn't use the Leica lens as it is a really cheap cut down model.
Your Brother probably finds it great, as it is cheap and nasty.
The bigger the lens the better - this has a tiny, non Leica plastic lens.
You get what you pay for - if you want a cheap camera buy it, but if you want something that takes great pictures that you can treasure spend a little more and get a better specced camera.

The Panasonic - DMC-FP3 is what they call a handbag camera - one suited to women as it's small and compact.
Seems like a lot of camera for the money, heat added. Its not even that old - first introduced Jan 2010. The main negative for me is the lens: f3.5 is a poor maximum aperture and 35mm equivalent maximum wide angle is pretty hopeless for group shots or landscapes. other than that, looks like a pretty good camera (optical image stabilisation is pretty rare at this price) and a genuine bargain at just over £60.

Can you buy a panasonic dvd player for that price now?

If you can't buy a panasonic dvd player for less £30 now when dvd players have been around for 10 years, then I wouldn't hold out on a blu-ray player, which also plays dvds better than most sub £200 players, as good as a £100 cd player and also has analogue audio outputs which can decode to older av recievers so you can get hi def sounds for films.

Putting it bluntly, you're talking a load of........

If you don't want to spend the cash on something, don't start rubbishing other people who do. This deal is cheaper than elsewhere and doesn't deserve to be frozen such because some people can't see the point of it.

PS. You put a bailey's deal in. Should I have voted cold because I don't drink?

BORING YOU ARE TALKING RUBBISH AGAIN!
New sound board, better isolation and power supply and analogue outputs. If you've not got a system to make use of the better sound and don't need the analogue outputs, then you're better off buying the Panasonic BD35 or Sony BDP350
can someone tell me WHY in the world this player retails at twice the price of the DMP-BD35EB-K??
Cripes - how much extra do you get for another 180gbp? not a lot...

I believe there is a mixup on the Panasonic site regarding spec of the TX32LXD69A - those specs are in fact for the TX32LXD70.

The TX32LXD70 is better because it has 2 HDMI ports and 100Hz scanning (TX32LXD69A has 50Hz scanning) to eliminate motion smear during fast moving scenes - useful especially when watching football. It also has better contrast ratio at 8500:1 and higher audio output (2 x 10W) and it looks better with the silver border (IMHO)! I speculate that it has improved image processing the VReal 2 engine - something again not found in the TX32LXD69A documentation.

The specs that you see on Direct TV's website is entirely accurate as it most closely matches the manual. This leads me to conclude that it is the direct predecessor to the TX32LXD70 hence why you cannot find it anywhere else as it is a discontinued model.

As for Direct TV's reputation, I cannot comment as I have never ordered from them. However, they seem to be a much better outfit than other organisations as you can talk to them on the phone and can visit their showroom (in the North!). See the FAQ on their website for details of their history. Apparently, they won a "PC Pro Award" in 2006 as Highly Commended.

For those who want to see the manual for the TX32LXD69, click here.
Ah, thanks for the links that actually work cyanide. Much appreciated.
This model seems to be a bit of a mystery. On the link you provided to the Panasonic site it says:-
Ease of Use Features
V-Audio - Bottom Speaker System (10W + 10W)
Integrated Digital Terrestrial Tuner
Viera Link for Easy Operation
PC Input
HDMI x 2
Scart x 2

Unless I am misunderstanding that.

But, like you mention, when you do download the instruction manual (via the manuals section on the Panasonic homepage) it does only seem to indicate there is 1 port. I would presume that to be the case. (although as I mentioned, unless I'm reading it wrong it seems strange that Panasonic would get it wrong themselves)
I'm looking for my first LCD (most like a 32") and had been looking at either the LMD or LXD70 but I really don't have a clue where this model fits into the range? Why is it better or worse than the LXD or LMD70? Price Runner show only 3 stockists (most well known being Asda) and have it listed as "new"
Also has anyone ever dealt with "Direct TVs" before? Any feedback - good or bad? I looked for some reviews and they were generally very bad rather than good. Many mentioning poor after sales service.
Although you do tend to find that the disgruntled customer is more likely to post a review than the satisfied one (they're probably too busy watching TV!) it is definitely a worry and may well put me off ordering from here.
But in terms of price (£60 cheaper than the next best) and Panasonic quality it definitely looks a hot deal assuming that Direct-tvs are sound.
Info on this model - inaccurate as this specifies 2 HDMI ports when in fact it only has 1 according to the Manual that can be downloaded from Panasonic's Website via the support link...

Panasonic TX32LXD69A Spec

The place where you can get it for £509.92 (inc VAT & Delivery)...

Direct TVs - Panasonic TX32LXD69A

Voted HOT at this price! Although the TX32LXD70 is much better for under £100 more.
Is it just me but the link doesn't appear to work? (zippy422 also mentioned this but no-one has replied). Also when I've tried to look up Panasonic e-shop via Google I can't fine anything much at all. Other than Panasonic online themselves where the set is close on £200 more expensive I think.
From what I've managed to find out it looks to me that this set is a new and slightly tweaked version of the LXD70 (on the Panasonic website the new models all seem to end in A and I saw on another site that had this model listed it was in the "new in" section). Of course I'm no TV expert and could easily be wrong.
If it is basically the same as the LXD70 then this is a very hot deal at about the same price as the LMD but as I can't actually seem to find the deal then that could be a little theoretical.
BaggerS;1408522
how does this compare to the LXD70? iv never heard of this set, is the LDX70 its predicesor?

I think it's the same as the LXD70 with cosmetic changes (black chassis rather than black and silver)

Do you know if thats the November or December issue of What Hi-Fi I saw the December copy was out yesterday ?

If its December I'll go and get a copy now

I got the TX32LXD70 from JL. Asked for a price match on Richer sounds in glasgow, rang me back in about an hour to say that was fine - £599.95 with free 5 year warranty. Excellent deal and I'd rather have the JL warranty than Panny one.

Hi

The cheapest price for the TH-42PX70PED I can find is £799 from Richer sounds. This is to include the 5yr warranty offer on at the moment.

Does any one know a cheaper place to buy this TV with the 5yr Panasonic warranty ?
