Is there a difference between mmc mobile & RS-MMC because you can get 2GB RS-MMC for £7.35 (£10.68 delivered):

http://bigmaggot.co.uk/Multi-Media-Card-MMC-Cards-c-46.html

YES.

MMC Mobile are dual voltage

RS-MMC are single voltage and will not work in some phones
£17.97 is way too expensive. I got one yesterday for £8.60 delivered from SVP. It's the same as deanos above and it works perfectly so, save yourself some money and buy it from here - http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1513.

by the way ive not voted you cold as i think the description on the website is mis-leading.

Dont know how it came up as a 8800gts though.

Look at the description closely.

8800 card only come in 320, 640 and 768mb versions. This one is just 256mb.
yoshi
this is not a 8800gts but a 8600gts.

The description on the website is all over the place

well when i fitted it into the system, it recognised as a geforce 8800. im very happy with my x1950gt for the time being :)

X1950 GT - slightly slower than Pro, one of the best cards on the market, but believe this can be overclocked to that level! Wont do the description, you know it if you are looking for it!

Hold off buying a few more weeks as the price of DirectX 9 cards will come down further as the newer 8800 DirectX 10 cards become more common place.
Which card are you talking about? The link takes me to the everything for 5 quid page.

Thats a bloody good point :) cancelled other order haha!

Not quite... You said "I am not sure whether Homeplug AV can interoperate with Homeplug Turbo, probably not." I was just trying to clarify that - maybe not too well! :)

Ah... got it :) Never mind my rants, thanks for your help!
Went into town today and got me some 10 meters of Cat5 cable, 2 network sockets and things to hold the wire to the wall. It will be hidden for most of its journey, just a few meters of it on show.

All for 30 quid!

Just need to drill two holes now!

85Mbps and 200Mbps adaptors can coexist on the same mains wiring, but will not talk to each other. So you would need two of each type for them both to work, and the different speeds will not connect to each other - hope that is clear!!?? Personally I would stick to the Homeplug standard, as it will give you more flexibility to find the cheapest from various manufacturers, and they will work together. I would avoid the proprietary ones from Panasonic etc for that reason. The 14Mbps and 85Mbps adaptors will talk to each other, but at 14Mbps. It's just the 200Mbps ones that will not connect to the other speeds. The cheapest I have seen the 200Mbps ones is about £120 for two... HTH!

Isn't that exactly what I said (just using different words)? ;-) Totally agree on proprietary stuff. Stick to Homeplug standard (of whatever variety).
I use one with my 360, and for me I dont notice any difference from using the MS wireless adapter or plugging directly into my router. For £50 for 2 these are great! We have 4 around our house and are ideal for when you start running out of wireless signal :) BUY BUY BUY!

I vaugly remember reading that the newer versions of these dont run on linux so therefore you cant run custom firmware on them. Someone else might be able to shed some light on that :)

i am interested in the firmware as it boosts transmit power but the webpage was nerdy gobbledegook. can it be flashed through normal means or do you have to use a serial adapter?

normally, but read the gobblydegook, it will tell you how :) Just go to the download page, grab the firware and flash it, check that your version is compatible first though

can you use this at a TV or is it just a monitor?

I'm looking for one for the bedroom so it would need a normal coax tv connector so we would plug the sky multiroom into it.

Anyone know if this has it?

cheers
