Shopto daily advent calendar

Every working day from the 3rd to 24th December shopto will be offering hardware or software daily promotions. It should be different everyday, just a word of warning that there may be some good deals on as shopto prices are normally exceptionally good!

Just a warning.

I would never ever order anything from these cowboys.

I'm a member over on the dvdforums and they are a banned supplier over there.

People have had nothing but trouble from them. Problems ranging from empty envelopes arriving and when people look for a replacement being accused by the boss of shopto as lying (this happened a few times), another one was a guy tried to cancel the order before it shipped but they told him 'just return it to us after you recieve it'. It arrived unsealed, when he tried to return it they wouldn't saying he had opened it and played it (despite other members saying they had recieved unsealed copies before) and countless other problems.

The mods over there have removed all threads relating to them and if you post the word shopto on any thread all you see is ******

Considering they were a forum sponsor over there and are now one of about 3 banned companies speaks volumes.

Not disputing others experiences but when I bought a 360 from them recently it was the best deal on the net and delivered next day with no problems.
#3
Don't get me wrong, they are probably the cheapest guys on the net, also they deliver very fast.

But with any company the true measure of them is how well they cope when something goes wrong.

I remembered another one of their bad traits too: They sometimes change the price of stuff just before despatch without notifying you, which is very illegal.
#4
Yep me too I bought the wii package that was posted on this forum, had no problems and was delivered the next day also...
#5
I've used shopto.net a couple of times and never had any problems.
#6
they are *****. very poor customer service. rude and arrogant staff. their staff need a fcukin slap and i wud b one of many who wud love the chance to give them one lol
#7
i have used them a couple of times,

very good in my opinion !
#8
I had no worries, my game didn't arrive and I filled in their form for a replacement and they sent it out with no quibbles. They use recorded delivery and send out the tracking numbers to their customer in an email, which I think is good practice. I'd use them again.

[COLOR=black][SIZE=2]I used to rave about these guys (and no doubt have given them extra sales), but when things go wrong, they ain't as good as they seem..

Now I prefer to spend a few pounds more in advance as insurance, incase things go wrong as I don't believe shopto has the right customer service approach when things go wrong - I'm speaking for experience and no longer recommend them..

I agree that their staff can be both rude and condescending - I'm speaking from two particular personal experiences

As I say, I did use to rave about them, but approach with much caution now

I would like to say shopto are very good.... until you have a problem, then they are awful at best, They seem to be able to change there prices before dispach and then when items are returned to them they want to charge restocking fees. Im currently in the process of a chargeback against them, as they charged me over 20 pound more than my original order price. I had used them before and thought they where ok but that was before i had to speak to them. Their customer services are terrible and have told me lies. Anyway just be aware of this before you order if you must:roll:

any idea what time of the day these deals start, is it midnight or 9 am or whatever?
#12
bought wii package from them last xmas - arrived as described etc - no complaints at all with shopto
#13
As already mentioned, they are perfectly fine up until something goes wrong.

Royal Mail lost an item they sent to me and they tried to tell me that the onus was on me to chase it up with Royal Mail. Took some direct quoting from the Sales of Goods Act etc. and a statement of my intention to pursue it through civil action if things continued as they were before they would sort it out.

Ordered from them the other day and everything arrived OK, sans any invoice or statement of any kind though. Hit and miss.
#14
Well I bought PES2008 from them and have made several purchases in the past. The Royal Mail lost my order and I phoned up and the guy was very helpful and said they'd send out a replacement straight away, I said I'll wait until the post has been (this was a monday) for today to save any hassle and he said just phone back and let us know, low and behold it arrived but just to reiterate I've had absolutely no trouble with them at all.

Maybe they'll have some good deals on Monday and if they do crop up I certainly won't hesitate to buy from them!
#15
In fairness I've used this firm to buy my WII & some games and I've never had problems. When I ordered my WII there customer services were polite and efficient.

Sad to hear that some people have had problems but I would continue to use them.

Missed yesterday's advent calendar deal (I couldn't see it when I logged on) but today's is Need For Speed: Prostreet on both the PS3 and XBOX 360 for £29.99. Not a bad deal if you're looking for the game as it's the cheapest price you'll find it for by a tenner - although it doesn't seem to have the best reviews. So that's £29.99 delivered :)

I'll post the next one tomorrow in this thread - hopefully it'll get a wee bit of heat eventually :p
#17
I've not had issues with them but there are several reports of people who have, more than i like so I rarely use them. When i do they are fine - next day delivery and generally good value.
#18
I've ordered about 20 games off them in the past never had any problems
#19
Shopto is without a doubt, one of my favourite websites, I think I've ordered more from them than any other site since I've joined HUKD (most of my large catalogue of games were purchased from Shopto) and I wouldn't of even known about them if it wasn't for this site. :)

Every game I've ordered has always turned up the next morning, even the games I ordered around 5pm (except during the postal strike but that wasn't there fault) which is amazing when you consider most websites take at least 24 hours to dispatch an item let alone have it in your hand.

I honestly can't praise the site enough and I've now got most of my friends and family ordering from them on a regular basis and they all have nothing but praise for them as well.

I'd also like to back shopto 100% . I have ordered many, many items and they are the first place i look now when looking for games. Usually the cheapest and the next day delivery is fantastic. Also usually get pre-ordered games 1 or 2 days before release day , very impressed with them and will continue to use.
#21
Shopto are brilliant. I buy all my games from them and have never had any problem. Delivery is also lightning fast (order before 5 and recieve the item in the post the next day free of charge).

The only possible gripe there may be is if you want to return an unwanted item as they charge a "Restock Fee". Just make sure you won't be returning the item before you purchase.

Big thumbs up from me for SHOPTO.

I don't personally see the restocking fee as a problem unless you see the product cheaper elsewhere shortly after but I always make sure I really want an item before I place an order with any site but it seems they're no longer going to charge a restocking fee.

"Exchanges

If you change your mind about a purchase you may return it to us unopened at you own expense within 7 days of receipt of goods for a full refund, after 7 days do not accept any returns. Before returning please e-mail ShopTo.Net with your account code and order number stating you are cancelling and returning the item. Please package securely and return by Recorded Delivery along with a note containing your account code, order number and reason for return. For console returns we recommend you return via Special Delivery or a courier. We only accept cancellation by email; please keep copy of the email as proof of notification."

So it seems they're improving a service but hopefully everyone won't take advantage by returning products all the time, just because they've found it cheaper elsewhere but it's great to see this.

Today's deal is barely worth posting tbh. It's the exact same as yesterday but only £20 more expensive!

Got to be honest, I think they're a bag of *****, I can never log on more than once so I have a raft of userid's and passwords that don't work, to the point where every card I have (and my g/f's) are registered and we've run out... so... no more business from me i'm afraid.
