Not cheap if it blows your pressure relief valve and believe me they can do this.

Not a huge expense to repair if you source the parts yourself and do the job yourself but call a plumber out and it's anyones guess!

Thats why shower makers state only use their replacement heads, not just so they get profit.

Get away using them with some showers but can blow PRV's on many

thats why so many people get ripped off "use our parts" they cost five times as much,
tesco use the same companies to manufacture these as the makers ones,, had a tin of tesco peas nearly blew up my pan get a chef to cook them the cost would be.....lol
Predikuesi#11
Great price - I'm hoping that they have some near me.

This works out cheaper than descaling the things!!

If I had a shower I'd stockpile a few.

you generally get what you pay for...sure there is a mark-up for named stuff but at least it works....this item is 10p, because its ****
even if they use the same manufacturers they wont use the same parts
peterdarlison#16

No.

Retailers are very clever in this respect. They use very expensive software to analyse the cost of continuing to keep something in stock at a higher price versus the cost of selling it below the manufacturing cost and clearing the shelves.

There reaches a point where they lose less money by selling something below cost than paying to continue to stock it.

In adddition, manufacturer's do often use the same components in cut price products. They go to great lengths to convince you it isn't so but the fact remains..

Take Volkwagen-Audi Group for instance. They go to great lengths to ensure that the Skoda plastic dashboards *look* cheaper than their VW counterparts. This is despite the fact they are designed by the same people and produced on the same machines using the same raw materials!

The reason? To make people *believe* the VW is better made and thus pay an increased price. My source? Someone that worked for VAG.

The amount of extra effort that must go into this is astonishing!

They are messing with your minds!

So you're telling us they put the same amount of money for materials and producing costs into Skoda's and other VW cars - yet they make the Skoda's look cheaper?

A bloke in the pub... :whistling:

Yes.

If VAG sold only VW's they'd not be capturing the bottom end of the market.

By selling restyled versions as Skoda they are doubling their market and selling twice as many cars!

It's a very simple business strategy. PSA do the same as they make both Peugeots and Citroens...effectively the same cars underneath but two products aimed at two markets. In other words DOUBLING their effective customer base.

It doesn't take Einstein to work out why they do this..

Jelly, I bet you are one of these people that buys a sofa from DFS simply because the telly adverts tell you it's "Half Price"! Am I correct?

I saw these in Tescos at the Meadows yesterday as well.

Yes they are indeed cheap, but having experienced very recently a pressure relief device on my shower blowing (and actually part of the heater can went as well) I would not scrimp on the amount I paid for a shower head.

The cost of a new heater can was as much as a new shower would cost, so ended up forking out for a whole new shower.

Sometimes I do think you get what you pay for.
