Siemens Fridge Freezer. I've been watching this for ages - it's been £489 on their site for months but I held off buying it. Now reduced to £440 plus if you have an old fridge to get rid of, they'll give you a further £100 off making it an awesome £340 for a top quality Siemens product from one of the most reputable companies on the web!
Product Information
With an A++ energy rating, the exemplary Siemens KG36VX27GB uses up to 45% less energy than a standard A-rated fridge freezer. This large model has also been designed to meet the fresh and frozen storage needs for you and your family.
The fridge gives you 4 height-adjustable safety glass shelves, a bottle rack for up to 3 standard bottles of wine, and a large salad drawer. Anti-bacterial protection is also incorporated into the interior walls.

The manual-defrost freezer has 3 transparent drawers, while the magnetic door seals are removable for easy cleaning and straightforward maintenance.

You can get water out of the tap I think

I thought it was a good deal until I saw the manual-defrost freezer. Unfortunately, lazy bones me, wants auto defrost for that amount of money.

Hi, thanks for the info on this fridge freezer. Looks ok for the price - you can get it here cheaper it seems though if Siemens will take the £100 trade-in.

£399 (hence £299) at Peter Tyson
http://www.petertysonappliances.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_pages/siemens_kg36vx27gb.shtml

Actually, have found a few other options in case others want to buy elsewhere for cashbacks etc

Comet £440 where you can use the REF5 code for 5% off, £418 and then get 3% quidco and free delivery too.
BootsAppliances £429 where you can get 4.5% quidco, then 1719 advantage points (£17?)

Money back seems to be from John Lewis not Siemens so these other options are more expensive.

Siemens site suggests "Siemens dealers", i.e. not just John Lewis: http://www.siemens-home.co.uk/home/learn-more-about/product-focus.html?article=siemens-5-year-guarantee&category=features-and-benefits~662

However I can't actually find a list of who the includes or excludes, so you could be right with the above options not being eligible.

Contacted Peter Tyson and they are doing the £100 cashback, but unlike John Lewis it is only if you purchase in-store and you have to return your old fridge to their store to qualify; Peter Tyson are not doing it with an online purchase. John Lewis use their own couriers and they pick up your old fridge to qualify for the reduced price. However, it would not be worthwhile for Peter Tyson to pay for the couriers return journey of the old appliance to their store. Handy though if you live near Peter Tyson's Carlisle store, but I have lodged a 'price match' with John Lewis as it is available in-store after phoning my local one despite what the John Lewis' Online Customer Services said; John Lewis retail stores and online are separate companies.

I'm no refrigerant expert, but the Salesman I spoke to highlighted that it hasn't got a auto defrost because the way in which the air is circulated around the freezer compartment means it doesn't need one...

It's £449 in-store at Peter Tyson (only £399 online) and with the in-store discount it'll bring it down to £349 so John Lewis won't price match as their price is cheaper - and they save you the hassle of taking your old appliance away.

Have been looking at this FF since last week when I saw it in JL.
I wanted to trade some of my TSB creditcard points for 10% off JL vouchers but they don't offer JL anymore....
it would have been nice to get an extra £44 off as it would be under £300.
Does anyone know where you can get JL vouchers from any other credit cards etc?

I brought my TV from JL a couple of years ago for £800 and brought online using quidco (8%) and JL vouchers so it worked out at £656. 2 weeks later I price matched it with empire direct and got another £60 back as well so total was £596. Now there's no quidco :-[

If I hadn't have bought a John Lewis brand Fr-Fr last year (it's an AEG make) I'd have snapped this up.
#14
Do not to forget to tick the box when purchasing that details 'Disposal of old appliance on delivery of Siemens KG36VX27GB FREE' - I didn't and they wouldn't take my old one away as it wasn't on their delivery/collection sheets and had to arrange for collection next week. Might be of interest if someone hasn't got an appliance to get rid of, but still wants the cheaper price!?!

Anyway, the fridge/freezer is a thing of absolute beauty, but it's very tall (about 6ft) and a bargain to have that quality and brand for the price. Many thanks OP!
#15
Good price if you have an old nail to trade in.
We bought a S/S Siemens one at beginning of year and very happy with it. nice clean lines, finger print free S/S (which works) and a 2 year warraty.

Some have 5 year warranty thron in at times of year but I guess not with the trade in offer aswell

May want to try your local independent electrical store and see what they can do with a price. ours was nearly £600 most places (online and in store) and we got it £500 + local delivery (£20 I think) from a local shop

I would be tempted to pay a bit more and get frost free. The air circulation that they all have does not make it frost free! Saying that the frost free option does make it slightly lees quiet (its not noisy but is less quiet!)

You've been paying for the convenience in your electricity bill I expect.
#18
At that price for the spec, does it wipe your bum for you?
#19
This is now back in stock.
If you have a Pigsback.com a/c you can still get 4 points for every £1 spent at JL.

This item is not expired????

just to clarify this offer is only available at certain stores. It is not available online at all, only JLP, COMET and certain independent stores can offer this £100 trade in. Remember the discount is given at point of purchase - not via claimback. The retailer will claim the discount back from Siemens afterwards, if they are signed up.

I may have mis-read the intent of your post, but yes it is available online as you enter the discount code and get the £100 off from the £440 price - I have been charged £340 for my online order? As I highlighted in a previous post, John Lewis didn't collect my old appliance and still gave me the discounted price even after no collection was booked at the same time as delivery of the appliance; although they accepted that shouldn't happen and are collecting it later. The point that contradicts your argument of it not being available online at all, are within the T+C's of the John Lewis deal:

The Offer is only available if the customer agrees to dispose an old appliance he or she already owns by entering the promotional code, selecting the "disposal" option at checkout and by making the old appliance available for collection when the new appliance is delivered.

If there is no appliance available for collection when the new replacement is delivered, or if the customer deselects the "disposal" option at checkout, JLP will seek to recover the value of the discount given in respect of the new appliance.

Sorry what I wrote wasn't entirely what I was thinking - I should have said it isn't available from online retailers such as Appliances Online mentioned in this thread - JLP and Comet are the only exceptions as they are participating in store.

The offer is still on until the 19th September. Very tempted by this, but the noise level is 42db which seems quite loud. If you've got this ff, how noisy is it in general use? There's other similar ff's which seem cheaper so I'm not sure if this is worth the bucks or not?
#24
I doubt this is any noisier than any other - I've never come across much difference.
