What makes this worth an extra couple of hundred than other dryers? Never bought one before so no idea what I'm looking for! Don't mind paying extra for good stuff, just like to understand where the money is going first.

I'm on the lookout too but also never bought one. Heat pump ones are much more energy efficient - half as much as a standard condensing one. However they cost a lot more to buy so i suppose it depends on how much you think you'd use it as to whether it's worth the outlay.

Very good price for a heat pump dryer - presumably discontinued model? Very good brand Siemens too. Voted hot.

Good price but JL have the 8KG model for £100 more so not sure whether to go for that instead..

I took delivery of this yesterday. Works very well and and the 7kg model seems fine for a family wash. It is one of the least expensive heat pump tumble dryers (only a Beko one is cheaper on the Currys website) on the market and a good brand.

do these dry cloths as fast as condensing or venter tumble dryers?

Never had a condenser dryer had a vented one before. It doesn't dry as fast but it is a much gentler heat and you're not wasting as much energy venting hot air outside.

Anyone verified if the 5 year warranty applies? I have had a look at Siemens website and it says something about needing to be from authorised/participating retailers. If not then a beko with 5 year warranty from co-op comes to £405 and would seem to be the safer purchase.

I have registered my tumble dryer bought from Hughes on the Siemens website for the 5 year warranty awaiting confirmation back. Can let you know if/when confirmed. But you need to weigh up between Beko and Siemens quality worse case scenario a 2 year warranty with Siemens.

Puppydog that would be great if you could - my dryer has packed in and I want to pull the trigger. Cheers

Did you get a response on the warranty query? You could contact the number below. I have a Candy Condensor Dryer which is causing condensation within the house. Were looking for another dryer and this is an ideal upgrade with the A++ rating & 5 year warranty.

Geodogger - have sent siemens custoner services an email this morning. I've had a Beko heat pump which has packed in after 4 years, which is not too bad. But really want something with a 5 year warranty, so it's another Beko from Co-op which can be had with Co-op purchased warranty for £405 - not too bad considering how much washing we do if I get 5 years out of it. There also Grundigs available from currys with 5 year warranty coming in at £469 - but usually can find a voucher for currys to bring it down a bit. BTW Beko owns Grundig, so I'm not sure if there's any real difference in the tech under the hood. I will let you know if I get an answer from Siemens. Using a clothes horse at the moment - for a family where both adults work full time air drying is not where its at!

We're like you, both out of the house and 3 children. A dryer is essential for us, and on maybe 3-4 times a day during the weekend therefore needs to be economical and come with warranty.

I like the Siemens self- cleaning thing, should mean there is no need to remove anything but the water tray.

HUGHES3 doesn't work, however £449 on eBay delivered.
