EX lens, so 3 yerar Sigma Warranty
HSM focusing, fast and quiet.
F2.8-4 means it will have decent low light capacity.
On a 1.6 Crop body it will be the equivalent of 27-56mm
Is a DG lens, so can be used on Full frame cameras as an UWA lens on the 5D, Canon film cameras, etc.

By the way, the Jessops image shows a Mk 1 lens - It is actually the Mk II lens they are selling, which is the improved one.

Damn fine price - what are the shots like?

Better to find a EX DC lens if you're going to use with digital only but a deals a deal.

Damn more expensive at my usual supplier but may provide more information than the jessop site. http://www.microglobe.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?pName=sigma-1735mm-f284-canon-ex-dg-hsm-af-wide-angle-lens

Sicknote, I think your picture shows the older, Mk I lens, The Mk II lens is improved coating, etc and looks like this. Note the different texture on the focussing ring.

Oh yes, my apologies.

Decent enough lens if you are not too picky and must carry a single lens - and cheap too. I recently got the 28-300mm Sigma - and it's bloomin' 'orrible :(

is this a good 'all rounder' lens would you say?

Yes, I think it would be too limiting to have this as the only lens - however if you couple this with the Canon 55-250mm IS (for around £170) then you will have a very good combo for just under £300. You will cover all the focal lenths from 17-250mm (with the exception of 35-55mm). Alternatively you could go for the 28-105 IS lens at around £200 from eBay which will cover the 35-55mm, but will not give you as much reach as the 55-250 IS lens.

Just been taking a few shots with the 17-35mm. It seems a bit soft at f2.8 but at f5.6 seems very sharp. You would not necessarily use very large apertures with a landscape lens, so this isn't really an issue. Build quality is tank like and in line with the other 3 EX lenses I own.

Bottom line: you really cannot go wrong with this lens at the asking prince. I doubt any other lens of similar focal length touches this lens at this price.

Thanks OP, just picked up the last one at Lakeside for £134.97 via collect instore.

Not sure if i'll be keeping the lens to be honest, as I really wanted a F/1.8 lens, but thought I'd give this a try anyway. Seems very very well built, and a joy to use (quite motor, nice size to hold), but will give a full try out over the weekend.

Looking at camera price busters, this is a total bargain price for this!

The Canon ones seem to have all gone now, but there are loads of Nikon ones floating around. Any reason why these haven't been snapped up yet?
