Sigma 19mm f/2.8 EX DN E Mount for Sony NEX £159.99 @Amazon

simba2585simba2585

Felt like trying out a new lens and i forgot all about the new Sigma lenses so going to give this a shot (hehe)!

It was £163.99 initially and i queried via live chat if it was the best price they could offer
could offer as it was cheaper via marketplace 3rd parties. Given the usual Amazon pricing policy jargon but to my surprise i noticed it had been price matched. Well chuffed - great customer service!

Good price for this lens and not many left in stock.

3 year warranty available via Sigma also for free! http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/warranty/index.htm

Sigma states that stock has to be sourced directly from them - i have queried this with Amazon and pending response. Worth a try anyway!

Really impressed by what I've seen of this and the 30mm f/2.8. Nicely priced as well, hope they sell well and show Sony how it should be done.

Great price and hope there will be more sensibly priced NEX lenses out soon!

If you want to foray to dirt cheap lenses you can always buy the adaptors and use second-hand lenses. Unfortunately, if you go down this route it's all manual...

    Hi hyl and sburley!

when i felt the urge to explore with other lenses when the NEX-5 was released i went (and still have) the Minolta Rokkor 50mm f1.4 lens - beautifully sharp lens this and all manual with no stabilisation as expected. Hard at first but i mastered it and have taken some incredibly sharp images nice and quick.

The 30mm is equally highly rated - actually i wasnt sure which one to get but thought id go go for something wider to fill a gap. I might get the 30mm next month, as its out of stock just now.

Guys what are your thoughts of the SEL 50mm f1.8? Aside from weight, IS and AF, is it going to be superior to the Rokkor?

If that Rokkor is a quality legacy then then I would save my money and not buy that SEL 50mm... they just don't make them like they used to...

This might sound like a really dumb question but does the lens fit directly onto my NEX 5N, no adapter required? Is it E-Mount? and, therefore does it have full autofocus and IQ just like my Sony 18-55 lens?
I've read through the Amazon pages and Googled the lens but I can't seem to find the answer.
I've seen various reviews and sample images and it looks phenomenal for the price, far better than the 16mm pancake.
I really appreciate the advice. Thankyou.

Actually I think I worked it out... The SE designation is Sony E-Mount and the MFT designation is micro four thirds... Duur.
Another stupid question... For landscape photography the 19mm will be better than the 30mm Sigma won't it?
