As per title, a netbook/notebook usb powered fan cooler with a cool blue LED. Looked quite small in the box so I would imagine it to be more suited to netbooks than notebooks, but then for £1, its got to be worth a punt. I have read on posts that people are using these to cool their routers, gaming consoles etc.

I got one of these before, absolutely useless (my netbook temps weren't even down 1 degree) BUT they do look really cool and act fairly well as a stand. Hot

Bargain, Tesco are flogging something a lot less pretty for 14.95!

pointless items, they do nothing these coolers, i guess £1 is fine though

works as a small board to stop your thighs covering the built in fan.

I use one of these underneath my PS3 Slim.
Means air gets underneath it at least.

For a quid these are ok and work fine with a netbook but too small for a laptop - do keep the netbook very cool.

Just watch your finger on the fan !!

Seems silly to power one of these when the majority opinion seems to be that they don't cool your laptop / netbook; don't plug it in and it'll probably do more good...

Same here and it looks good at night ;)

I use one of these under my Netgear router which is prone to overheating. It cools it down quite a bit.

They work for me on a Laptop and also on my Netbook. I use it placed on a plastic tray, act's as a stand, keeping the air in-takes free. The Netbook get very hot without, great bit of kit for a £.

Got one of these under my ps3 & xbox in the tv cabinet can't see it doing a fat lot but it looks good at night ;)

Wish they weren't angled though for putting it under various boxes like the ps3, think the angle is too much, do you guys pad it out with something to lift it up a little?

I've got one of these running to keep my Sky+HD box (Amstrad DRX780) cool. USB plug goes into the port on the front of the box, so no messy wiring/soldering needed and you can pull out the plug when the box isn't running. Undo the 2 screws connecting the fan to the stand, and then use slightly longer screws to keep the fan attached to the side of the Sky+HD box. Works a treat and means my signal doesn't degrade in hot weather (was happening every night recently), or pay Sky for the privilege of sending an engineer out just to replace the box with a refurb!

these have always been in Poundland since well before Christmas.....

I bought 1 of these last year, and have to disagree at least with my experience with some replies, by saying they are excellent. It actually use it for an older laptop which is bigger than the stand but fits on it fine. It used to run at a really hot temperature even after replacing the thermal paste, but when I use this bored, the drop in temperature is unbelievable. The fans drop right down. For me at least these things are brilliant if you have a system that runs quite warm/hot! I even went back and bought another just as a spare. That was 18 months ago nearly but the store has always had stock in since then, so they're not limited anyway.

Agree with Rob. Use this with an old Inspiron 6400 which gets very hot. Fan is OK and adds slight cooling but also keeps the lappy off my knees or table to help airflow.

Good deal but these are often in poundland so not exactly special.

Have one similar on top of my Dreambox. Works a treat :)

always loads in both newport stores, perfect for my dreambox!

I've got one of these. I have it on my bed, upside down -- ala with its "legs in the air", and my laptop sits on top. It just leaves a nice gap between my laptop and the bed for air to flow. The right way up, as intended, only allows a little bit of air to flow (better than being completely blocked) even with the USB fan running, but upside down lets me keep my laptop running next to me on my bed with a lot of room to let air flow.

Definitely worth £1 the way I use it. To use it as intended with the fan... well, you'll get what you pay for.
