RRPs and similar ultra-inflated prices like this £679 quoted needs to be taken with a lorry load of salt, not just a pinch! Silentnight is a "name" everyone knows from intensive advertising, it has nothing to do with high quality!:-(

It is just a coil sprung mattress, so very basic and not something I would want to spend years lying on, especially as it is a double - so every time your sleeping partner so much as moves a muscle it means you are sleeping in an earthquake, or rather - awake in one!... but cheap for a spare bedroom I suppose.

Nonsense!

I've had a silent night bed before and it was very comfortable and as the name suggests, silent. I most certainly never experienced an earthquake when the Mrs turned over. Although we're not even 20 stone combined so i could only recommend for the fit and healthy. It may not be adequate for those with posture/weight problems.

Well, most people who haven't had better don't know the difference, beds are no different, so your post is not a surprise.

Agreed it won't be a problem if you are sleeping alongside Sleeping Beauty or Rip Van Winkle, but the rest of the population turns over many times a night, and that's why Memory foam and pocket sprung beds were invented, and have become so popular. With no-roll together and reduced disturbance being a major benefit of these types. A single bed is less of a problem in this respect for obvious reasons, but even so they still offer far better support.

There is always cheap stuff like this coming up, (eg. Argos double the price of ALL beds then reduce them in the sales) so if that's all people want they can go ahead, but anyone interested in getting the best available beds/mattresses at the best prices from this site when they just too rarely crop up would do well to look at the Money Saving Expert site thread on beds and mattresses for lots of discussion on the pros and cons of various types so they know what they are buying.

This bed was rubbish. 4 years on and had to skip it. Buy 2 single beds and put them together, best idea yet :)
