Yeah and about £300 sheets lighter!!!!
#10
How easy are these to unlock guys?
#11
Voted cold. Good deal but S*Ite phone.
#12
This is PAYG how do you get the minutes etc?
#13
Decent price for a smartphone... But the HTC Wildfire is painfully slow... PAINFULLY SLOW. I got rid of mine within weeks of recieving it
#14
This phone SUCKS! Takes 10 minutes to delete 100 texts. AVOID!
#15
Phone is too slow. If you want an Android phone you'd be better off getting a San Francisco for £90, (unlocking it for free) and buying a rolling contract / SIM card of your choice, even a 3 SIM card.

This is a very good deal, sure the phone is a lil slow now and then but for a entry level android phone this will do just fine. If you buy this phone change the phone carrier ROM for a REAL HTC ROM to make your phone run much faster, also if you want a super fast ROM download a custom ROM without htc sense and you will get nice fast speeds.

Overall I think this phone is fine for a 1st smart phone and if you can mod it then its even better.

This is just my view on THIS phone, sure you can say this and that phone is better but I am ONLY making a comment on the phone and who I recommend to buy this phone.

Its all good saying the desire is a better phone

Yes it is but this is an entry level one, not a med or high end one

While this is true the ridiculous screen size makes it a terrible phone for men and gamers. Avoid buying the damn thing and wait for the price of other phones to drop.

Cold, because the often cheaper OSF owns this phone

As a starter phone on Android this is the bee's knee's.

Can agree with most of the people shootin it down but got a Desire Z today for one of my kids and the younger one gets the Wildfire he's been using for 8 months, gets him used to sense etc and compared to his w595 will work like a dream and set'em up for the next gen.

£115 - not bad at all.

I like this brand

+1, someone with a sense of perspective.

Why does it say

> boasts a sharp 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen

? I cannot see how anybody can define 240x320 as sharp. Ok, the Apple retina display with 960x640 may be a different price range, but you get a number of midrange smartphones with 800x480 - which is much better.

The camera is the only item that could set it apart from the Orange SF...

As an entry level Android phone this is great, you don't want to go for it if you play games (slow CPU/no graphics boost) or want to install loads of apps (lack of memory). It is a great choice if you want a budget phone with the extra capabilities that Android offers.
#28
This is my first smart phone and it's a great bit of technology imo, not sure how you can criticise it at this price. Obviously there are better smart phones now but most cost a hell of a lot more than this.
However, you'd be better getting it free on a contract imo rather than £99 + monthly top ups. I got it with 200mins, 200 texts and unlimited data for £12pm which is perfect for me.
#29
I can see this dropping again to under £80 within the next couple of weeks. The HTC Wildfire S should be dropping in price next month so stores with remaining stock of the original wildfire will be keen to shift them asap.

OSF has dodgy wi-fi and not built to half the standard of the Wildfire. Unfortunately things like build quality don't seem to count for much on HUKD.

Build quality on a £100 phone? They're both made from cheap plastic.

San francisco with the swedish spring rom is better.

Doesn't mean there isn't a significant difference. The Wildfire is solid. The OSF creaks, buttons wobble, and there's no way the power key will last.

Creaks? Buttons wobble? Power key? No they don't. The HTC Wildfire S is a crappy little girls phones. I'm not surprised it's getting slated regularly here, I had one and had it packed to return within 2 hours.

Don't suppose you have the link for the OSF mod?

I think us wildfire owners could use of love. We tend to get shouted down by the OSF crowd. when I bought my wildfire the Orange San Francisco had just come out, it was too much of an unknown quantity so I went for the wildfire. Did I make the wrong decision? I'm beginning to wonder now.

I'm almost tempted to get a San Francisco as well just so I know for certain which one I find the best. But I can definitely say that while it is possible to hate the wildfire it is possible to absolutely love it. which is the way I feel about mine.

I actually think it's an older person's phone, because I found mine a wonderful productivity tool. I've got just under 200 feeds and podcast's that I subscribe to. basically all the good productivity and business applications seem to do the job fine on the wildfire. it's quite capable of playing music while surfing the Internet which the iPhone 3 can't even do.

I think us wildfire owners can hold our heads up high. the Orange San Francisco is probably a better phone to get, if you like games it's a no-brainer, but if you've grown out of games, and like the feel in your hands of something beautifully made, that can hang a with the big boys in terms of applications and reliability, then the wildfire has a lot to offer.
