I was looking for a cheap solder sucker, looked on ebay and amazon and the cheapest where plasticy ones from china next up where plasticky ones from the UK at £2, then found a silverline which has good reviews for £2.06 delivered from amazon.

It is Silverline after all.
You must've had a bad one then, I got the exact same one a couple of years ago for £1.95 from ebay and it's fine. Used it to replace power supply capacitors in a Sky box and 'repair' work to an xbox360, did exactly what it's supposed to do.
+1 made me chuckle
I eneded up spending like £6 on a heated one, still pump action. The nib gets hot so you can actually melt what you want to suck up with the same device.
Well worth the extra if you do a bit of soldering.
I like to just walk components out of a board though.
There not silverline though, just plastic ones, why dont people read?.
Good for you but how does that help this deal?.

Years, I've been struggling with suckers only! I didn't know heated ones existed. Duuh!
