How else is it going to check fuses!?

BEANZ-ON-TOAST
This one is a bit cheaper, if you don't require a fuse tester:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skytronic-Universal-battery-tester/dp/B000L9C27O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297018048&sr=1-1

That looks exactly like the Plasplugs one I have had for years [except casing is yellow on mine]

Great price!

£4.50 for me????
#14
Yep - £4.50 here also.

Was £2.83 directly from Amazon but must have sold out. Third party sellers only in stock now hence price increase.

Fantastic item, had mine for years and wouldn't be without it :)

that was an excellent price IMO, gutted i missed it

I got a great battery tester from a 99p store. One of these;

Doesn't test fuses though but I use a multimeter for that. But for quick testing of 1.5v/1.2v and 9v batteries its great.

I got one of those from 7DayShop and it's not very good, the needle wobbles all over the place and it's a bit fiddly to put the batteries in to test. I've just ordered the one BEANZ-ON-TOAST posted above (for £2.03), as Faythur says it looks just like the Plasplug one I 'borrowed' from my Mum about 8 years ago, which is spot on, at least my Mum can have it back now!

Id rather spend a quid or 2 more on a multimeter that would be more accurate and useful, but good deal if you dont know how to work a multimeter.

Wow, this is a really handy gadget to have!

I've actually used the silverline tester and it works in a identical fashion to the small 99p battery tester. The silverline product has extra functionality regarding bulbs, fuses etc but as a battery tester they are near enough identical. If the meter needle if fluctuating you may have a loose connection. Mine works perfectly.

It could be faulty but for 99p it's not worth sending it back. I've gone for the one BEANZ-ON-TOAST found earlier for £2.03, as it's less fiddly to fit the battery in to test it than the 99p one.
