The Mrs has this phone, decent CPU, the screen is alot nicer than my galaxy S5, 3gb of RAM, the cameras are good, not much difference between 16MP on my S5 and the13MP on this even in dark.

daughter loves the VR headset, google cardboard app works pretty well.

We paid £199 and its well worth it.

Really surprised this phone doesn't get much heat considering spec build and features, maybe the 4s will change people's perception of Alcatel.

Bought this from Tesco for same price, great phone and you get free VR, screen protector, JBL headphones and a protective case in the box. Really fast and smooth. Also seems to receive regular security updates as I've just received an August patch last night. Battery seems good. I bought a fast charge anker charger on amazon for £10 as the phone supports fast charge 2.0. Didn't think I would use the VR but it is actually really impressive. The phone is also very well built and slim.

Just bought my mum one, updating now, cant fault build quality, nice screen too. Are you using the screen protector? also by case do you mean the clear back cover?

Hope to see some nice third party accessories in the future, cases etc as they are a bit on the thin side at the moment.

Hi, I put the screen protector on as soon as I had removed the screen film that the phone came with. It applied ok after I watched a youtube vid on how to do it, but there are a couple of bubbles at the very bottom corners. The tempered screen protectors on aliexpress etc.. look better. I also order 3 cases on aliexpress for £1 each and I've ordered an sline case on ebay for £2.49. The one in the box was the clear clip on back type cover. They also do the genuine matrix flip case for £12 ish, I was a bit gutted it wasn't included as it is from some suppliers like clove.

I've noticed the camera in low light is a lot better without the rear clear case on it, it must be to do with the flash reflecting off the clear case somehow?!

That's why I asked about the case as I saw the unboxing video by clove in which they said the flip case was included, same box/model to, 6055P. Maybe its an error on their part as they also state CPU 1.7 GHz & 1.3, although pretty much everywhere has that wrong.

I'll checkout aliexpress, thanks.

You can purchase the genuine Matrix cover and activate it via the settings menu on the Idol 4, https://www.alza.co.uk/alcatel-idol-4-matrix-flip-case-black-d4361203.htm

I prefer the bumper style cases though without the flap cover.

Yeah I already found that one, can't say I'm a fan either.

Only negative is the volume on calls doesn't seem very loud and clear after my previous Windows Lumia phone. Rest of it is great though, the fast Anker charger is useful for a quick top up of power.
#13
Haven't made any calls myself as need to get a different sim size.

I guess you have to hold these a little lower on the ear anyway as the speaker is right on the end?

Not as good as part of the phone covering the ear top and bottom with a port firing the sound down your canal :D

Hope its not to bad my mums half deaf lol

Does the included charger not do Quick charge? Just curious as I am due to pick this phone up from Tesco tomorrow...
#15
No, but if memory serves me it only takes about 90 minutes for a full charge anyway.
