Sim Free HTC HD2 for £277.72 @ O2

First post so apologies if I get anything wrong (posting from a mobile so I can't add a picture).

Just been on the phone to O2 to attempt to upgrade to the HTC HD2 but as my contract doesn't run out until January I couldn't. However, the bloke in the phone said I could buy the phone outright for £277.72. Given the fact that other retailers are offering this for £500+, it seemed a bargain to me!

Not sure if it's unlocked but O2 phones often are. I've ordered one so will let you know once mine arrives. Either way, if you were going to put a O2 sim in it's a steal at over £220 less than play.com.

Edit: This deal does not appear on their website, you need to call customer services. The number is 202 from an O2 handset.

This phone is only available through their upgrades/retentions team, via business department, or through shops. It won't be available either online, or through the sales line (an online channel apparently) for a while yet.

will give em a call tomorrow. sounds too good to be true, wont vote for now
#7
Asked again about this instore today - Apparently it's been delayed again on O2 due to further testing - Now due out (in O2 stores anyway) in December according to the staff I asked

Not sure - you could always join as a new member, give your 30 days notice immeadiately and order the phone.

Think their cheapest tariff is £15 so you still get it for under £300.

Hope that helps.

Just compared to this deal alone http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/522920/htc-touch-hd2-35-a-month-awesome-ph... this really is a no brainer

£278.00 div 18 = £15.44 P/M + O2 Simplicity @ £11.50 PM = £26.94 PM

O2 Sim deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/520460/19-58-for-a-12-month-contract-800-m? (based on £100.00 Quidco)

Think you can only order as an existing contract customer only, hence 1 Phone per existing contract :)

I've just rang up and they quoted me £360 for this handset sim free. What department did the rest of you speak to and what did you say. Guess the price might have gone up this morning. doh!

OP says yes... (tbh though, I doubt it) however if it is unlocked its still going to have O2 branding.

When you say Quidco, do you mean the Phone or the Sim Contract, only this deal is not online so no Quidco (on the Phone)

Just quickly looking at the above, have you taken into consideration the SIM only deal is 12 months, so you will either need to get a new contract or continue paying £20 for 6months in your sum above.
#29
this is definately going to get hot, I desperately want this phone, but dont have an O2 contract, shame :)
#30
I just phoned O2.. Im on the £19 a month simplicity package and the guy said that O2 do not sell sim free phones to simplicity customers, but only to new O2 customers on a contract....

Wouldnt let me have one!!!

How did you guys manage to get them by ringing up? What did you ask for?

Thanks very much

quidco on the 12 month contract as someone has linked to another thread here above.

Slightly offtopic, but do you think it'd be possible to get any handset (available from O2 obv.) using this method? I'm currently on the Simplicity deal mentioned on here in July. Ideally I'd like to get the Blackberry 9700 or E72.
Really appreciate any tips on what no. to call, and if either of these mobiles would be available from O2. Many thanks.

I got a price of £360 sim free 1st time. just rang back again and chose upgrades instead of retentions. I'm on simplicity £19pm same as u and have just ordered the handset for £277. Jst keep trying and you will eventually find someone who will do this for you.

LOL I got exactly the same reply... so rang back, spoke to someone else, ordered no probs

Very hot! If you're on O2 and do get this, you can easily sell the phone for £400. It won't be locked.

Yeh understand what your saying but that's the beauty of this + the Simplicity deal, your only tied in for 12 months (my comparison with the other deal, is based on carrying on for 18 Months but fortunately with this I dont have to)
#37
Still no joy... phoned twice...

First guy said I needed to have my simplicity contract for over 6 months before being able to upgrade.

Second guy said its not available until 23rd, but they would give me a call back to sort out a price for payg!!

Annoys me to think some people get the deal no questions asked and others have to go thru all this crap... it should be either available to all or none!

Apparently they've stopped doing it now.:x

I had to call twice yesterday to get the deal. First woman I spoke to said I couldn't buy it sim free, the second said yes without any hesitation. Persistance is the key! My order has now been dispatched so it all went through ok.

Agree that its a joke that they don't seem to know what they are doing over at O2.
