The best price for the sim free Nokia 5800 seemed to be play at around £225, but today I was in a CPW store and they now have them in on O2 PAYG for £209.95

These are Sim free unlocked and unbranded handsets, and if you can provide them with an active O2 PAYG number they will sell it without adding on the normal compulsory £10 Topup.

In The Box

5800 Touch Screen Handset, Battery & Charger, Wrist Strap 2 Sylus, Carry Case, USB Lead, and TV Connection lead + a little stand, and some software.

So this seems to be the best bet for this great handset at the moment, (Although no doubt there will be a sub £200 deal soon!)

REALLY SORRY

I put a link to O2 Rather than CPW - THIS IS A CPW in store deal - NOT O2 (Just that they are selling this unlocked unbranded handset as O2 PAYG)

If a mod could amend I would be grateful

For those that insist its NOT avaialble because the website shows no availability on PAYG - Here is a copy of an invoice from today

Do you know what colours they had available?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/328862/nokia-5800-xpress-music-free-on-o2-/

T-mobile PAYGO also available here, same price I think. Also a contract with O2 at £15 pm (perhaps it's worth having a look on that thread too).

This deal is better for those who dont want to be locked into a contract.

This gives you the flexibility to change to a better deal at a later stage. During this year there will be some blinding deals due to the current financial climate.

i called o2 direct today to see what offer they have on a upgrade but statednotthing as yet will be available on monday

thats a really good price @ £109 heat added opp

I've got one of these phones. The volume on music playback is a lot lower than my N95 8GB. A trawl of the net shows that this is a common issue. However, great price :)
#8
I want the blue one
#9
hot! .
#10
They are mostly black but have red trim.

It's cheaper if you choose the T-Mobile credit, £199.99+ 20 topup. o2 is £209.99 + 20 topup. O2 allows 14 days money back if you don't like it.

They are unlocked.

Where did you buy it, I have one from CPW and the volume is plenty loud enough,Is it possible you got a US model as most US music devices have restricted volume because of liability claims,

Being on O2 I'm assuming this is unlocked?
#13
As per the original description

Unbranded (As in No O2 Firmware) and unlocked (so you can use it on any network). I have tried O2 - 3 and T-Mobile Sims in the one I got all OK.

I'd say 99% of Carphone Warehouse handsets come unlocked and unbranded just like this one.

that's sim-free price. PAYG will be cheaper when they put it on, even though the O2 version is unbranded anyway

I got one of these today from CPW in Guisley, Leeds. Having played around with it for the day, its a really good phone. Very loud speakers, good build quality, and the software is very usable for a first attempt at touchscreen interface. If you're used to the S60 set up from Nseries phones you'll easily adapt to this.
The touchscreen is good (for a resistive one) - though still not as responsive and slick as the iphone's.
I found navigating the menus, entering text and numbers easy with plenty of options to suite,. The only wiered thing that I cant get used to is searching for names in the phonebook, the A-Z alphabet is split onto two screens A-M then N-Z....very odd.

Anyway, a capable phone, with a good brand, and well worth the money. This is gonna become a really poplular phone if Nokia get their marketing right. And I think it should happily do me till the Palm Pre comes out :-/

Just to back up what everyone else is saying, phone is unbranded and unlocked - no trace of O2 on it at all, it's sold with an O2 sim and that's it.

I'm using it with a Vodafone simcard and it's working susprisingly well, the phone configured all its own data settings for Vodafone when I put the simcard in.

Indeed, I have had one since Thursday - cracking phone and the speakers are really really loud (all the review state they are the loudest available on a phone right now...

I can't confirm it, I bought two from CPW thursday night and they wouldn't do this for me - I had to do a £20 top up to both - me and missus both have 30 day simplicity sims

Thats because the phone is on 3, if you buy a 3 phone its locked to 3 - 3 suck :)

I went to CPW today and played with the phone. The touch screen is not responsive eneogh, no where near the iphone. The phone is good for that price and on features such as mms, sat nav with voice guidens, etc. Iphone is **** in that sence.

I found on dial a phone its a good price with the quidco cashback £163.64

Total contract cost over 12 months with £70 cashback from dialaphone: £223.64 - £60 quidco cashback = £163.64

The sensitivity can be adjusted - I would never compare a product which is twice the price with this - this is in a different league to the iPhone - it proves the iPhone could be so much cheaper if only people could resist it.

The most economical long-term way to buy the 5800 is PAYG on o2 with a sim only package from any of the networks - its a big initial outlay - but long term its miles cheaper for what you get.

Hi I just got my nokia 5800 today but it was the red colour. I bought it off e2save(www.e2save.com) which is owned by Carphone Warehouse but is internet based. I went in to CPW because the e2save customer services centre is closed on week-ends. When I went into CPW they told me they only do the phone in red however the site that I bought it from only had an option for the black version. Do any of you guys know if they are only available in red because I really want the black one. Thanks. This is the link to the site (http://www.e2save.com/o2-contract-phone/Nokia+5800+Xpress+Music/4/5800#o2tariffs)

I bought one this morning for 209. Using it to write this message in fact. Loving it.

Right next comparison needed :) :

LG Cookie and this Nokia 5800. Do they both use the same touch screen system so will be similar in this respect? The Cookie is half the price (£99) of the 5800, and seems to have similar specs but the 5800 has more features. The wifi is obviously a clincher for the 5800 though. Does it have auto/manual foucus on the camera because the cookie doesnt?
cheers

I brought one an hour ago. The phones a bargain at £209. I would say its better than the iPhone Feature wise, but i guess Nokia are always.
Just tell them your on o2 Pay and go and you wont have to pay for the topup.
I think thye are selling at a good pace.

No sign of any branding.

The Nokia seems to have a new touchscreen i had a samsung which i guess uses the same screen as LG and it was not great this one seems more smoother.
More features, and it has Auto-focus, well worth it
