Really easy. Did it few weeks ago.

Get your PAC from current network then just text PORT to 07507307996 from new sim and follow instructions. Took 2 days.

Yes there is a difference but honestly it's not that drastic. Atleast I don't think it is. If all you do is watch Youtube videos and surf the net you won't notice that much of a difference aslong as you have good service at the minute.

But when I download certain files etc that's when I do notice the difference of 4G and standard 3G.

If I was in your shoes I wouldn't bother tbh esp as you mainly use WiFi anyways as unlimited 3G is great to have for just £12.

(Hope that doesn't confuse you more haha)

We are visiting from Australia and are after a sim card to use for a while and then give it to the people we are staying with. I understand that this card is a month to month sim card...if you dont renew it wont work..thats how the system works here..am I correct? Btw our pepaid sim cards now include unlimited calls to UK and more, about 7 gig of data and unlimited calls in within Australia for abt the same cost. We will use the data part of your card with Viber etc to call back to Australia..cheers

If you get this sim it will carry on working month after month and you will be charged every month UNTIL you ring them and say I don't want to carry this 30 day contract any more and they will cancel the card.
Bear in mind
The money will come out of your bank account as a direct debit. So factor in exchange rates.
The notice you give them to cancel the contract maybe be 30 days. So you may have the contract for 2 months.

Hope that helps

Hi, thanks for your reply, here in Oz you can elect to pay or direct debit. Friends in uk will get sim for us to use whilst there..then they can determine what to do with it afterwards. I hear EE has the best coverage...we will be near norwich area..they use tesco and find it patchy.

Can't tether on virgin

The official line is you can't tether but they don't actually block it on phones, plenty of comments on previous virgin threads and been with them myself for a month and it's definitely possible to tether.

The 0.37% with no coverage must all be in my area, as it's useless here.

It's a contract and probably requires a credit check, definitely requires direct debit. It's a recurring payment unless you ring and cancel. It's certainly possible to get this for short term, but it could be a hassle.

Personally, I'd recommend a Pay-as-you-go deal from Three, their 3-2-1 is pretty reasonable and you can use your topped-up credit to buy bundles of data and minutes if you want to. No chance of getting caught paying a recurring charge, you can just abandon and forget about it - so a good choice for visitors. Available to walk away with from in store too. Check coverage online in the areas you're interested in though, obviously.

Am on EE, just did deal with them to stay for the same as this but unlimited minutes/texts/5GB plus use minutes in EU and 500mb of EU data every month included.

Retention line sorted it, 60mb's 4G too, took all of 10 mins on phone, I think they are ready for it if you mention Plusnet!
