I was transferred to the retention team, i had told them a white lie that the 3 network was doing an £8 a month deal for 1200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data, i them told them its disappointing that i have to change my number etc and that ive been a customer for a long time. the lady on the phone said to wait on the line and came back to me saying she could match that deal
so RESULT!!!

1200 MINUTES
UNLIMITED TEXTS
UNLIMITED DATA! (NO CAP)
£8 A MONTH... BEST OF ALL ITS A 30 DAY CONTRACT THAT CONTINUES UNTIL I WANT TO CANCEL!

So this is only for virgin mobile customers? That are looking to leave to a new provider? And there is no set price, just what ever you can whittle it down to?

Yes, yes and yes.
#8
same deal but on 2 phones, & only £5, I am a virgin landline, tv & broadband customer though.

The more I see this crap the happier I am that I left those jokers, I was on the unlimited everything deal for £15 and they were upping the price so I said I was moving to the £12.50 deal from 3 and they told me they couldn't even match that, been with them for at least 5 years.....

Like others, I was getting this for £6, from a previous deal posted :p so not selfish at all. That said I then tried getting this deal for my partners dad and they couldn't do exactly the same, he gets 1GB of internet instead of unlimited. The deals do seem to change every month. When I rang to get a Pac code for one of the lines, the guy reduced the unlimited tariff down to £5 but, couldn't do the same for my partners dads.

The second time I got a deal, I didn't say I was leaving I said I just wanted to know what deals they had for existing customers, didn't threaten to leave once :). Actually that's when I got this deal for £6, before that the best they could do was a £5 a month tariff with 500mb data and 500 mins when I did say about leaving.

I've just rung them an they were happy to cancel, asked me why I was leaving and I told them... He just said I'm sorry your leaving us!
#13

Phone them back and speak to another advisor in there detentions dept. they WILL give you a better deal than you are currently on.

You may have just caught someone at the wrong time?

It's all of those combined, if you phone them and say I want to leave if you get someone having a bad day then they'll allow you to leave.

If you phone to say you would like someone to look at your use age as you think you may get better value elsewhere then there more likely to offer you a better deal.

IF they cap your data at 1gb ask them to have a look at your minutes useage, lowering that to what you actually use may up the data to unlimited.

After 6 months or so call them again, they will more than likely give you more for your money or drop your monthly payment.

The best deal from them seems to be ;
3000 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited data
£5 per month.

Takes time and a bit of bantering with them to get that.

What did they say ?

What did you say ?

How long have you been a Virgin Mobile customer ?

Just spoke to retentions. They claim there is no such deal available to them. If you have other virgin media services on the 'big cahoona', they do have an £8 deal, but it is NOT unlimited data. I already have a retention deal but with the 1gb data restriction. The tariff described in this post is the VIP tariff which they cannot discount.

Most of this thread sums up VM nicely.....INCONSITANT AND UNRELIABLE.

I had a similar deal with them (£5 unlimited blar blar blar), two months later they took it away from me, what a lovely company they are

There correct, there is no such deal that folks claim they are on.

What Retentions Dept. have is the ability to apply a Loyalty Discount, which can vary from one call to the next, (what type of day the advisor is having, customers attitude, length you've been a customer, what deal you are on etc etc).

Do not say 'I've seen this £8 deal on HUKD' - just explain that you are concerned you think you might get better value elsewhere, they are far more inclined to up your useage limits for the same monthly payment than to reduce your monthly payment though IMO.

In my experience you need to be either ending a monthly 18/24 month contract or have the 30day rolling sim for at least 6 months before attempting to banter a better deal.

I've spoken to them on several occassions, the first time I threatened to leave. The second time I simply asked what retention deals they had on the system and was told the options are "x and y". I've spoken to them a few times since, like trying to get the same deal for a new sim and was told that this particular deal wasn't available any more, what they could do a deal on is "m and n". Yes it's applied as a loyalty discount but, it seems to be at least two different types of deal each month and it does change.
#29
They are very reluctant to give the loyalty discount on new sims, even if it's registered in the same address as other contracts/sims.

Well, as long as you have the sim three months it isnt a problem, which isn't a huge amount of time to wait.
Strangely though yeah, my first sim I rang after 2 months and I did threaten to leave but, was told to ring back after such and such a date which was 3 weeks away as they'd be able to do a deal then. When I got another sim they applied the same discount straight away which was the third sim in my name. I then moved my main number away for a contract and took another sim only out for my partners dad, that they couldnt do straight away and we had to wait 3 months :|. But he gets a decent deal now as well anyway so not too bothered about having to wait the three months.

10 years I've been with virgin .. TV broadband and phone .. Still they couldn't do anything for me.. He said no such deal.. So I asked him to create one.. He wasn't having any of it.. Waste of time tbh

#33
Yes I have for the past 4 months

the retention deals are so user specific I no longer post any, as you can see each person gets offered a different deal.

It's all down to how much money you make the network. If you make lots of free calls, use all your data & text and never spend any more than your contract amount per month, you cost the network money.

If however you do all that but receive lots of incoming calls from different networks, you earn the network money as they charge the other networks to route the call to you.

As of 1st July 2014

My current deal is:- Essential SIM Only - £17. Includes 1200mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data - with £12 loyalty credit per month. Making it £5 a month.

Previous deal was:- 20.99 Virgin sim only+2.5GB. £21.59 included 600mins, 2500 texts, 2GB data - with £16 credit per month. making it £5.59 a month.

Previous to that was the standard essential £12 - which was reduced to £9 after 3 months, to £8 3 months later, then £7 a month after that until I was offered the very strange deal above.

It can take over 12months to get the deal stated, but if you just keep trying every month you will get something BUT ask them to see if there is a better tariff, DON'T just ask for money off!!!!

I have two sims with them and had no luck.!

Going to try again soon.
