Not great deal tbh.

If you use PAYG, you can topup £10 and get 150MB, 300 texts and free 3to3 calls for 3 months.

Then buy a £5 addon using your credit for 1 month's 2GB internet.

The only advantage to this is to not have to top up every 1 or 2 months.
#6
True about the add on but you don't get those freebies anymore, unless you have the old plan. I agree though much better pay as you go tbh
#7
This is standard addon available on all 3 Mobile plans, including PAYG. It lasts for a month and can be used with existing SIM card (no need to get another one).

On a side note: PAYG 15 plan includes All you can eat data now.
#8
Does this SIM allow tethering officially? Thanks.
#9
Data at about £2.50 a GB seems readily available in a number of forms, such as the 3GB or 3 months and 12GB or 12 months deals. Personally I would rather buy my data this way due to the peaky nature of my usage but this may be a good deal for some people.

Tethering and Dongle use is allowed. I never had 3 complain as this is capped plan. They do not seem to care what you do with any of their capped offers.
I cannot comment on All you can eat data as I never used it.

I'd guess they mean it won't work in a 2G phone. Should be fine in your dongle.

That depends on whether your laptop has a wwan card... mine does and I use Three and have never had a problem.

As answered numerous times, nope... tethering or using it as a dongle isn't allowed and will get the sim blocked.

I'm not getting blocked. Am I doing something wrong? Been using addons for internet since it was introduced. It comes out to be same price as ordering 3GB SIM from ebay, but without ebay hassle. Did you get blocked?
#19
Absolute rubbish, it's a 2GB allowance, why should 3 care how you use it, I've had one in an unlocked mifi, never had a problem.

This is a good deal - especially as it comes with loaded with 2Gb - voted hot

Just a bit too late for me as got a similar micro-sim (ipad and iphone compatible) from Argos at the weekend for £4.99 but only loaded with 1Gb - maybe more convenient for some

3GB split over 3 month.

So if, for example, I only use my mobile dongle every other month would I have to cancel this at the end of each 30 days! Or does the pacakge become inactive after a month until you pay another £5.11 on it?

This is a contract, so they will automatically charge you for next month. You have to cancel month in advance.
Addon on the other hand, will expire after 30 days and you will not be charged again.

Can you put this in a iphone and then tether over to an ipad using the personal hotspot feature in iOS 4.3? Would you have to activate the sim to make it work as an ordinary sim card so it can make calls and texts? or would it still work in the iphone without registering?

Should work fine with unlocked iPhone. Three does not prevent you from tethering. I have not tried new iOS 4.3, so not 100% sure. I'm thinking that only problems that you can encounter would be related to iPhone and iOS.

You don't want to make any phone calls using this card. They will bill you per minuter as this is a contact. You can get calls addon to avoid huge charges. Alternatively you can get pay as you go SIM with this addon for same price. Depends on what is it you are looking for.

ordered and received it ..actually received THEM: although I ordered above deal only, I received a PAYG SIM and a Pay Monthly SIM so beware. I chatted with helpdesk and the latter SIM is the correct one. The PAYG SIM is free to give to friend.

@ Ashok: quidco tracked at £4 too

Thanks for posting that link to the Amazon deal for 3GB for 3 months - I just bought a load of them and it's perfect for my use. I just had a very frustrating 'chat' with 3 and they initially said that anyone using the 2GB £5.11 deal CAN use it in a laptop. Then at the end of the online chat when I asked again for clarification purposes, they changed their minds and said that using the 2GB 'Internet only SIM' in anything other than a 3G handset will find the card blocked, eventually.

They then tried to flog me the £15, 5GB 'Broadband' SIM - I told them to take a long walk. :)

Cheers again.

Do you need a 3 phone to register the SIM? I have a 3g dongle I'm going to use the:

http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=1SO0D011

package in but no 3 phone to register if necessary...?

Thanks
