Yeah, this looks like a good little sim for calls from abroad. Heat added :-) xx

I got one in the last post: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/181428/sim4travel-international-roaming-si/ using code FF50

The coverage is fine, NO incoming call charges and 25p per min to call anyone. It works on a call back system.

EDIT: SEE BELOW BY JPR !!! 39p per day for using it !!!!, That's a new one

Comes No1: http://www.roamingsims.com/country/france.php for use in France
#3
Watch out for their new charges. 39p per day if it's acually used plus penalty fees after 90 days of non-use plus more every 30 days.
#4
I use a different company. They offer a similar service. https://www.united-mobile.com. The calls are slighter cheaper and texts are cheaper too with United. Also the small print for sim4travel states "We charge a 39p daily connection fee when using the service". You choose.
#5
I just read jpr's comments and wanted to add that United Mobile do not charge when the sim is not used. I've happy with them and have used for a few years now. Never had any issues.
#6
Dont trust you will get quidco - mine failed even though I supplied all the correct data after it failed to track!

Also found in some countries its cheaper to buy a local PAYG sim over this one.
#7
I got one of this earlier this year when I went to Tunisia, and was not able to make calls at all. Could text but that wasn't what I wanted it for.

Bit cheeky... Most people _ I'd imagine _ would use these for their jollies and rarely anytime else!

Not impressed with that :x

this 39p was never before i think i bought this sim4travel via ebay and use to abroad after that left >7GBP credit now >4 co i think they change about 10 days ago
#11
i use vodaphone passport there is 75p conection fee but then you get your home tarif i think it works out cheaper unless your making a short phone call Just cost 75p then you can chat like you are uk
#12
I wouldn't call 39p a day a deal breaker, but is it 25p/min to call other phones in the country you are
in ? e.g. to call friends who live in Japan while you are in Japan ??
Or is it just to call back to the UK ?
#13
I'm after a cheap data sim for use in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg. Anyone got any recommendations?
#14
These are sold on bmibaby flights for around £18 so this is a good deal if it's what you're after.

u or somebody else?

Voted COLD because of the 39p issue. That's just plain sneaky and I don't like underhand dealing!
#18
39p isnt that bad - works out at ~£10 per month - less than most contracts!
#19
I am being seconded to Abu Dhabi for 12 months with work, would this do me for ringing & txting back home?
#20
Looking at United Mobile they charge in Euros so it is only 0.29Euros which is only 23p which is a good deal (Spain). i got one of Sim4travel but then put on the 39p charge.
#21
cheaper to use public phones
#22
This is a good deal in terms of price, however I spent £10 in January without making a single phone call. My credit run out and when i complained about it i was told that N95 was not a compatible handset, therefore it was my problem. I asked which handsets were compatible but no advice was given to me so i just decided to bin the sim4travel card. There are much better options out there. Very cold IMO.

where does it mention about the daily use charge on United Mobile's website?
is it this: Call set up rate outgoing (one time) EUR 0,25

Watch out for phone incompatibility. Bought one going to Poland last year, didn't work with my Samsung E770H. Company unhelpful, Easyjet refused refund on the way back.

Sorry I just checked back to this thread and saw your questions. Hopefully I can answer some of them.
Reception is not an issue as the sim roams on the networks.

I have never been charged any maintenence charges/surcharges/daily charges.

I still have over 20 euros on the card. I last used it nearly a year ago. So I'm happy to say no charges were deducted.

There is a call set up charge of 25 cents for each connected call. I've never seen this as an issue.
Texts are 25 cents too.

The sim works by using call back. You dial the number you want. The networkl disconnects the call then dials your phone. Once you take the call the network calls the number you want. That way they keep the costs down. It's ok once you get used to it.

I've had the sim since they were Riing mobile (which was then bought by United). They upgraded my sim for free to a UK mobile number (it used to be a +432 code). So now another advantage as well as cheap calls is you can receive calls abroad and not pay and people in the UK don't pay a fortune to call you on some foreign network.

I hope that helps.

Make sure the mobile you use non uk sim when abroad is an unlocked phone. I have never heard about sims not working with handests unless maybe you have a USA sim and you don't have a tri-band phone. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway if the phone is not unlocked you can always ask the network to unlock it. Most do for free if you've had the handset for some time. If not try the cheap unlock option listed here http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/237736/alternative-mobile-unlocking-soluti/

I have tried to order the card via Quidco ,but the price comes up at £15.99 not the £7.99 by default with an option of a promotional code-anyone any ideas -thanks

I bought this - but to be honest the service was not great, as many times I was called and it never got through.

For many countries - 3 - includes calls in your inclusive minutes. So if you can tolerate - 3 - then this might be your best option.

Its a PAYG with a pretty poor service, it also means all credit to it is likely to disappear if you dont go away for a couple of months.

More realistically its £11.87 a month - although to be fair it is a tenner a month in all months that end at 25.6 days.

I was hacked off with being ripped off by mobile companies - so we transferred all my immediate family's phones and the mobiles used for the two places I was working to Easy Mobile, as they calls between each mobile were buttons and so it ended being milked on cross network calls which were only included on some contacts then. I did it through quidco and the cashback should have been enough to cover the costs of the Christmas party for both works and my family (it was a software company I am am a director for and another that was renovating buildings I was buying to resell, and everyone was all family, friends, or family of friends).

The largest part of the quicdo money never appeared - the free calls that were there in the introduction of the offer never happened, and they folded before christmas.

The SLeaZy group at its best?

I wonder if they will be the next airline to throw the towel in?

Quidco fixed my missing cashback on this - but the payment still does not have a date set.

I never realised about the 39p a day charge, but with the unreliabilty of the service it was a close run thing as to whether it was worth it prior to their introducing this charge - so with it I would not go near them.

The phone is unlocked. The Sim works on an old Nokia I have, but I don't normally take this away with me. To tell you the truth, the difference in the call rates from this and on Virgin from Poland is negligible, so it was a bit of a waste of money anyway.
#33
Is the 39p charge applied even if you don't make or receive a call?? If just for being on the network seems a bit much....however...If just for hols then....take the card out of your phone when you get back. Your credit is protected for 90 days then they charge you £2.00 to 'store' it. After 89 days send a text and switch it off again so you should keep your credit for a further 90 days for 39p + the txt charge.

only free incoming calls in certain countries
Call rates look a bit higher
£0.43 outgoing sms
£0.18 to call customer support
£20 to buy, much dearer than competition

"To keep your account active you must top it up at least once every 15 months and to preserve existing credit you need to make a call or send a text every 9 months."
