They have older models and other simplehuman stuff too so have a look around and see if you can pick up a bargain or two beside bales and bales or throws and towels! @whistles@

I've got 2 of their 237ml dispensers (the ones I have take 4xAA batteries) and they're still going strong after 3.5 years.
Love that you can use whatever soap rather than systems like the Dettol No Touch where it limits you to their soaps (or risk slicing a finger off trying to refill). Super handy especially in the kitchen so you're not making contact with the dispenser and transferring whatever you have on your hands.

I have several of the Dettol 'no-touch' units throughout my house and have absolutely no problem getting the top of the bottles. After the first time of getting each top off, it's a simple task to replenish it with gel of your choice. I bought my Dettol units some time ago at £4.99 and believe from time-to-time the units can be offer at this price. I'm afraid your posting for the simplehuman unit, however attractive it looks, is poor value when you compare the Dettol units. Voted cold.

This one is USB? So you have to plug it in once the battery is out? How long does the battery last?

I have the regular battery versions but not sure about USB.

The dettol one is hideous. I wouldn't have that in my house even if it was free.

Yes mini USB, one charge lasts quite some time - much better than the older models - less chunky.

You can also get ones that look almost the same from Amazon for under a tenner

Well I bought a few of them since I bought my first in America but they tend to get clogged up and must say do feel a bit plasticky...

Not for everyone admittedly but i love stuff like that. :-)

You missed my point that the Dettol system isn't designed to be refilled, you shouldn't have to be locked in to an ecosystem where you have to buy their product nor should you have to risk injury trying to remove lids.
This unit is rechargeable, lasts 4 months between charges, you can change the amount that is dispensed, you can use any soap you wish right out of the box, and it has a brushed nickel finish unlike the Dettol system which doesn't have any of these features.

I rest my case. I'm sure there';s historic posts on here chatting over this when the unit's were on offer.

You need to learn how to use the reply button.
You don't need to rest any case because as I said I've used their system before and it is NOT designed to be refilled. There is nothing safe or practical about jamming a screwdriver in to a bottle every time you want to refill it.

Yes - but it CAN be refilled. Just because as you're constantly bleating on that it's not designed to be refilled doesn't mean that it can't - as I've proved! Common sense prevails obviously when you're detaching the top from the bottle, but I'd hardly say it's a risky task.

If you had bothered to read my posts you'd have seen that I've owned one so I am well aware of how you can refill and yet again you are still for some reason missing the point that it is not designed to be refilled. It it not an easy, practical, or safe way to refill.

Jamming a screwdriver in to the refill pack and hoping for the best every time you want to refill it isn't common sense.
Common sense would be buying a system that is designed to be refilled.

I used to have 3 of the Dettol version and found them very easy to refill and incredibly reliable. I then 'upgraded' to these and TBH they were rubbish, they were unreliable, the batteries didn't last as long and the finish tarnished/rusted. I wish I'd stuck to the Dettol ones.

Oh mine..seriously..it's just a soap dispenser - you either like it or don't...no need to fight over it. Not simplehuman vs dettol the finally saga!

I did however buy the dettol dispenser from America when they first came out and loved it. Thought it was best thing since sliced bread lol. Though after a while but you do feel stuck with their soaps and no i didn't bother refilling the refiller..

Just want to lighten up the post - there is always a cheaper version of whatever you buy made in China (and costs less) - if it's not already made there!
Actually SH is founded by a Chinese in US, didn't know that..
