rechargeable batteries are a pain in the ****,did used to go that way but not worth the hassle anymore.
Agreed. The recharge on them tend to last about a quarter of the time a new set would last, and get worse every recharge. I stopped a long time back
The newer rechargeables are better as you can keep a stock ready charged and they are great for torches and bike lights when you ensure that they always have the full power.
Been admittedly maybe 10 years plus since I last gave up rechargeables in disgust so you may well be right. Hope so. May possibly try again some day
Good for you! The batteries are better. The chargers are better. Disposables are almost entirely redundant and people just need weaning off them. :)
I agree. Branded 2400mah rechargables are the way to go.

Yikes. 3 pages and no one's yet pointed out you can get 12 better batteries for £2 from Poundland!http://www.batteryshowdown.com/results-hi.html
do these have any leaking issue?
As far as I know, ALL alkaline batteries leak if not maintained properly. It's a function of physics! Internal pressure builds up which eventually cracks the shell and oxidation takes over. We need those physics experts here to explain it better. Lithium batteries no not.

thanks for the reply 8)

might give them a go

I think Wilkos AA and AAA alkalines are now 8 for 95p. Better than even the pound shops, possibly better than IKEA, possibly best price going that's in store / normal price?
Yep, they are.
... and you don't have to worry about fakes.

Ah, but they're not Duracell!!! I can't believe there are HUKDers who still think the sun shines out of Duracell.
Still available for £1.66. But of a wait for them to come in stock. Not really a problem.
I used to buy the Duracell pro but I reckon they are pretty crap

Rechargeables are crap they only last x number of cycles, they're lower voltage so get thru their charge quicker.
I'm sure they're fine for low drain applications but they're still crap at anything else. Also are you factoring in the electricity used in charging them?

Third generation eneloops last something like 2100 cycles. I estimate that it'd save you at least £750. The electricity is negligible. Even if the charge is 10% less you're still saving hundreds of pounds, although it'll probably take most people years to go through 2100 cycles. It's also more convenient that having to buy new batteries.

people always quote the tests in all of these threads but peoples real life opinions differ widely from the tests
You can go with 'widely differing opinions' if you like but I'll be sticking with the actual measurements.
you will be telling us next you always get the MPG that your car manufacturer quotes, tests and real world never match

Nowhere close :D

The point of these tests isn't to tell you exactly what you will get in the real world, they're to give you a way to properly compare things.
Showing as expired, probably because they've gone up to £2.91 but I still ordered 2 packs. Many thanks OP ;O)

These seem to have replaced the procell versions and are of the same quality. I use them all the time and have never had a probelm, though don't claim to be enough of an expert to compare them to other brands.

I'm not an expert either but, under the old name of Procell, these are the only modern batteries I've ever had that leaked. However, I suspect your experience of them depends on what you use them for.

We have gone through several thousand Procell batteries at work over the last 10+ years and a pattern emerged - they are fine in relatively high drain applications where they are going to be changed regularly (we used them in blood pressure machines without issue) but if you put them in something like a TV remote control then the question isn't if they will leak but when...

We've switched to Varta now - they cost about the same and don't seem any more or less powerful but they don't leak.

I've had some really poor rechargeable batteries over the years.
Sony, Tesco and Lidl ones were all utterly useless & have died prematurely. ie just after a few charges, not 500~1000. Never again.

Amongst the better ones, I have some very old Uniross batteries which will still hold a charge, as do a couple of Duracells.
However the only ones I would buy again are the Sanyo Eneloops. These hold the charge for months so they are ready to use and also none of them have died, after several recharges.
Who knows, I might even recover the investment on these ?

What colour were the Lidl ones that you bought. The Red ones, silver and black ones, and kind of greyish ones were dreadful. However, the latest ones I bought (silver, black and green coloured) are basically like eneloops. Barely any discharge and great capacity. Perform just like my eneloops, I think they're using the same technology now.
To all the people saying there are 2000mAh AAAs, it's a con. It's physically impossible to fit that much, even having more than 1100mAh comes at the cost of reliability.
Higher capacity cells nearly always have less charge cycles.
Where are these 2000+mah AAA batteries? Are people sure they're not confusing AA batteries??
Highest AAA I've seen are around 1100.
^^^ just out of interest... the 4th gen eneloops (panasonic) , some are being made in china ;). i dont want to come across as some sort of "eneloop" fanboy , but they are proven to be just about the best aa/aaa rechargeable batteries available. im a senior member of candlepowerforum, where us guys constantly kick the crap out of batteries to see how they perform, and when you factor in cost, mah, voltage under load, how many cycles, etc. eneloops are very hard to beat. a lot of flashlight manufactures actually use eneloop /eneloop pro batteries for there runtime tests, that just about says it all really. sorry if ive chucked the thread to a different tangent.

GP recykos, currently £4.49 for a four pack delivered on amazon. im a flashlight/torch "nut" who hammers the crap out of batteries in high powered stuff, trust me these recykos are damn good for the money :)http://www.amazon.co.uk/GP-AAA-Rechargeable-NiMH-Batteries/dp/B000NWIIE0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416860637&sr=8-1&keywords=gp+recyko+aaa
Hi, is there much difference between these GP Recyko and the GP AAA Rechargeable 650mAh (x4) on Amazon for £3.89...I bought 3 packs yesterday but I've no idea...I was just going off reviews - would these have been a better bet?
Thanks

Generally, all the well known branded instants perform similar, but look for the mAh capacity as that determines how long they last in use. 900 mAh for AAA and 2100 mAh for AA are minimum capacities to look for. As a bonus, cells marked as 'Made in Japan' may be the original 'eneloop' technology which tend to be better preformers, but it's not a signification reason to avoid branded cells made elsewhere.

Check these out or Lidl as mentioned but be careful their last lot weren't the slow self-discharge type.

Lol, who said it flat? Flat earth theory is a guardians to the truth, but still holds more true facts than globe theory.
Plus there is 4-5 flat earth theories...

Wow, what a great evidence, how i could miss that!! Dude, i have checked enormous amount of pictures, videos and all off them are FAKED. And i can prove it by using Error Level Analysis (ELA), programs JPEGsnoop to analyze all data with what lens and with what camera it was taken, with fotoforensics and other tools... And ALL of those photos are faked and processed with Photoshop. And most videos are using so called "fish eye lens", same like all Go pro camera have, etc.. When earth looks round even few feet above the ground. And all this curvature due to lens, with naked eye or normal camera it would look totally flat, but it doesn't mean that earth is flat either.. Well you probably couldn't think any other possibility.. But there is plenty, Torus, Klein surface, Concave earth, etc.. But if you want to earn some money, from an idiot, you can try, i have lots of challenges to offer.
lets pick few random:
1. Find or get Raw picture from ground telescope of so called satellite in so called space. We should have about 3000-5000 satellites (some NASA pages claims 20000), well.. one would be great. reward £500 per photo, per satellite. They aren't so far away, just in Exosphere. Plus there must be at least one somewhere, after 55+ of in so called space..
2. Find REAL Picture of ALL earth, including, moon, some seen satellites. - reward £100 per picture. If there is a sun aswell - £200. must be dead easy after 6 decades in space, isnt it?

I dont for one second think you are being serious because of how stupid this "theory sounds".

After taking just 30 seconds to look at the lake/circumfrance "proof£ you have, there are mistakes already i can see:

He has the radius of the earth incorrect.
He uses radius instead of circumference of the earth in his calculation.
Why would you trust in these crazy theories that are incorrect at even the first hurdle?

You need learn some math, all calculations and measurements are 100% correct. Pay attention, its KM, not miles.
As i said before, i do not trust anyone anymore, i just test whats can be tested and see where all evidence leads.. and now i am sure we been lied about earth, sun, moon, stars, rainbows, light, speed of light, E=mc2 is wrong, relativity theory is lie, etc..etc..etc.. And most amazingly i find out why its all been done.
I wouldn't be saying such a crazy thing if i wouldn't be so sure, and i have spend 6-8 hours a day for 8-9 months studying all this stuff, and i am sure now - earth isn't a globe. And NASA just helps to prove it by faking all their job. And i don`t give a damn, that 99.99% of people who never even began to consider that we been lied purposely, believe otherwise.

Ordered x 3, money taken from a/c but no product delivered. Both amazon & seller refuse to make a comment on the subject. Have tried emailing and phoning but to no success. Some people do receive their orders, I just don't recommend giving money to a dodgy company.

Have some heat for the find anyway.

this seller looks like the mixed pack (implies a mix of sinble coloured bands from picture) though i suspect they are a mix of the awful looking 2 colour bands ? anyone ordered his mixed colour pack - 2 coloured bands or the bands each 1 colour and a mix of colours in pack

This seller I can recommend if you are worried about these:

Same price, first lot didn't come but a quick message and had a second set sent the next day and instant response from the seller.
Cheers, cancelled and ordered from them instead. Difference is seen in the estimated delivery, 3-18 days compared to 3-5 days for the one you posted.

anyway, can't spend all my time chatting to you Mr xenophon :) It's been fun tho .... seriously for a moment. think about the root of all that repression and anger of yours and try to get a sense of humour lol

Repression, what as in the repression of free thinking and free expression by self-appointed political correctness officials. Yes that makes me somewhat irked.

If having a sense of humour means adopting yours, I'll go with out mate. :p

No hard feelings John Thomas.

yes, I'm all for freedom of speech. I didn't tell anyone what they should think or say (that's their own choice). I simply asked for a rationale for those opinions and didn't get one.

No hard feelings mate.

a quick refresher for you... a boy without a winkle is a girl. a girl with a winkle is a boy :)

So if a boy lost his 'winkle' in an accident then according to you he now must become a girl. And if a girl is born with a 'winkle' then she must be labelled as a boy. You biological fascist.

thank you, I did laugh at that ! I even marked that I like the post :)

Bought one of these months and months ago from a similar deal posted on HUKD and it is still inflated- despite being used as a football for a time! Great purchase imo!
Well spotted rendog! First time I've acted on the site so thank you!!
We're going to play a little game my deal children and it's called spot the hellhole.
This would be a great present for Vladimir Putin, would need a modification around the USA, a small hole, hopefully then that's the only way Putin will get to f&*k the world.
Just ordered 2....fab stocking filler. Thanks x

Cold voters clearly have not held a long club in their hands. It is the most powerful feeling you could imagine. I pity you all.

Clearly they have not, but i do worry about the durability of this club. :(
It should withstand at least 20 good blows

If it's anything like the inflatable doll i bought from Ann Summers last xmas it won't.

We'll see.
