Do you think that some companies, when an item reaches zero stock on their central system, are not sure whether there might actually be a few left, or where they might be. So they reduce the price considerably on their system, show them as Reserve&Collect only online, and sit back and wait a few days whilst bargain hunters spend their time checking for isolated stock. Then the company can finally clear the item from the system, without any risk of a customer finding one subsequently and there being no price on the system.
