When death is your business, what is your life? For the Fisher family, the world outside of their family-owned funeral home continues to be at least as challenging as --and far less predictable than --the one inside. From Oscar-winning screenwriter Alan Ball (American Beauty) comes this breakout series that takes a darkly comic look at members of a dysfunctional L.A. family that runs a funeral business. With Peter Krause, Frances Conroy, Michael C. Hall, Lauren Ambrose and Rachel Griffiths. This box set contains all five seasons of the show that changed the landscape of television forever.

amazon review:
I generally don't write reviews on Amazon but after watching this series I felt it would be criminal not to. I don't think there will ever be anything as good as this series made for a long time to come. I believe it is excellently scripted and acted and everything inbetween. Throughout it challenged me to think and made me laugh and cry many times. There are so many absolutely heart rendering moments scattered across all five seasons. And what an ending. Brilliant job, HBO. If you haven't seen this yet, I am very jealous of the journey you will take if you decide to buy and watch this series.

Paid nearly £70 a couple of years ago for this. At this price I would highly recommend it, one of the best television shows ever,

cheap, great find.

Great deal, I'd go so far as to say my all time favourite TV show.
Its funny if I really thing about it, most of my favourite shows are from HBO.

Thats probably because they invest in quality, from the writers to the actors. As opposed to some of the dross that other studios churn out like Lost and Prison Break.

Lost writers should have watched this as it's a perfect example of how to properly end a show. I'm a pretty tough cookie when it comes to turning emotional during films/tv... but the Six Feet Under finale reduced me to a weeping mess! :P

I was just discussing this at work today. Going to watch it on Youtube now. Best ending to a show EVER. Stunning.

Great series. :)

This show is so depressing its untrue, not a single likeable character in sight. I enjoyed it to begin with but by about the 2nd or 3rd series could hardly stand watching them.
P.S. the ending just sums up life, you live you die, how is that any better than losts ending? (being simplistic as I don't want to go into it in too much depth and ruin it for anyone who invests their time until the end)

oh I've changed my mind, I did like the funky green hearse. Ironically I paid 39.99 for this last April (having seen it getting decent reviews on here) and now its back again at a slightly higher price with the same decent reviews, just thought I'd add my no doubt controversial 2 pence worth

How is that ironic?
Perhaps that why you can't distinguish Six Feet Under's perfect ending from something as generic as Lost, the ending of which I haven't even watched as I made an educated prediction from the first episode that the series would be utter garbage. You know a show is **** if the producers cast actors on looks rather than their acting ability.

Same post same reviews that I read before, perhaps deja vu is a better phrase than ironic.
Funnily enough I made the guess everyone would die in six feet under (p.s. this is not a spoiler as the programmes about death anyway and if you watch this isnt a shocking twist!)
How does your logic work? You watched one episode of lost and then base all your opinions on other peoples comments about it including an ending you never watched, well done you!

I actually watched this, and lost all the way through, I'm not saying lost was better in the slightest just saying the end to this was no better or worse - although I would definitely say a lot of care and thought went into SFU's ending compared to Lost's which you could argue could have been wrapped up in one or two series rather than dragged out over 6, so in that regard you could say SFU's was better.
I would definitely agree about the acting quality as well, I like Michael C. Hall in particular but already saw him as 'Dexter' a role he's made his own, so it was hard to see him as the coward he plays predominantly is in this show.

What did you think of the soprano's ending? that was another one that split people down the middle? Personally I'm still indecisive just wondering your opinion as it may in turn encourage me to give six feet under another viewing to possibly appreciate it more
