Probably complete filth, but still a bargain!

Looks like a good deal, sadly nearest pub to me is 11 miles away.

nice im off to the pub alters

It's still £2 too much for the crap that they serve. My local sizzler is under staffed, the food portions are very small and always burnt, dirty plates and glasses are always left on the tables and are never cleared away by the staff. The customers normally have to clear the tables themselves and this results in several tables used soley for dirty plates etc. (and this only 12 months after a £450,000 refit)

ok deal for ok food, i live about 30secs walk from one and this is not the best deal i have seen
a couple of months ago they did an almost identical deal @ 2 for £5
Also the 2 for £6 deal used to include a rump steak meal which is now not a option
saying all that i will still go and eat there for £3, food is ok for a quick lunch, theres much worse in the student pubs in the same area

Not one within 40 miles of me. Reading some of these comments, I'm not upset about it.

Thats a bit unfortunate. Guess it varies pub to pub. Mine's not like that at all.
The food is excellent, and absolutely worth the money. I do agree with you about the slowness with clearing glasses though, but its not too much of a hardship..

Ours is pretty much the exact opposite of what you've described. Really good value for decent food - miles better than brewers etc.

Is this not the same as this?

Be careful - I went down with the missus last night to take advantage of this. The food was ropey and burnt as expected, but no big deal at £2.99 a pop - at least that's what we thought.

When I went up to settle at the bar, the bloke tried to charge me full price. An honest mistake I was sure, so when I politely questioned it he told me that the meal I ordered wasn't on the offer. When I pointed out that it clearly was, comparing the reciept to the menu, he then said that I hadn't specified that I wanted to order from the special offer (which was advertised all over the place).

I then pointed out that I was hardly likely to come in while there was an offer on and opt to pay full price, and he told me somewhat unconvincingly that I "would be surprised how many people do." As my eyebrows raised and jaw dropped I think he realised what he'd just said. This wasn't about a misunderstanding anymore, it was now a matter of principal.

Cue another 5 mins of me remaining polite but firm, and some very imaginative reasons which I won't bore you with as to why he wouldn't refund the £3 (yes - THREE POUNDS) I finally lost my patience and asked to speak to the manager. He went to the kitchen for 30 secs loitering around the door, sheepishly returned, took a fiver out of the till and said he hoped that should sort it. Part of me wanted to hang around and demand again to speak to the manager (he clearly didn't want them knowing) but I'd attracted the attention of some of the dodgy looking locals so I thought I'd quit while I was ever-so-slightly ahead...

As amusing as the whole experience was I don't think its worth repeating.
