Yes - it is a very good game - and loads of people rave about the fantastic control system - personally I couldn't get to grips with it, but I am probably the exception, rather than the rule

Yeah you gotta give this game serious time- especially if your a tony hawks fan and used to the madness of that type of gameplay. It goes for realism, but it's impressive to see how tecnology has come for skateboard gaming
#16
The controls are confusing if youre coming from years of playing Tony Hawk games. Only takes an hour or two to get used to them though.

Excellent game at an excellent price, heat added :)

I think you'll only appreciate this game if you skate yourself. I don't, I just like watching the pros in videos so I prefer the Tony Hawk games, the realism of Skate just bores me, just like watching some amateur in the park would bore me.

bargain, been after this!

I don't know how many pros you see doing what is done in Tony Hawks games. I would guess none.

Skate is brilliant, controls don't take long to get to grips with. The controls are much more rewarding when nailing a tough grind instead of pressing a button and grinding on power lines for a couple of miles.

I traded in my copy for £5 the other day at Blockbuster, just in case anybody wants to make a couple of pennies to be used on BB store credit! :?

probably my most played 360 game to date, other than Oblivion.

Yes the controls are frustrating, and you'll bail continually, but therein lies the challenge and the reward: You'll be skating around and find a sweet spot with a massive drop or a gap or a kinked rail, and you set up a quick 'transport to' marker (LB + down I think) and spend half an hour trying to nail it, or do a specific trick over it. With the marker in place, if you bail (and you will bail, just like the pros) you can quickly get set back up to the spot where you put the marker (using LB + up) and try again.

I can't go back to the Tony Hawks series after playing this. It's that good. Sakte 2 introduces the ability to get off the board and walk around, which this game doesn't allow you to do, but the level has been designed so well that a skatable platform to get up stairs is never too far away.

So yeah, well worth it for under a fiver. Voted hot.

Hi

Can anyone give me an insight on why this has a 12 rating. Is it the abilty to play the game or is it due to it's content. I'm thinking for a 7 year old.

Thanks in advance

Personally I would say it is down to the controls rather than the content. I am buying this for my 7 year old young lad.
Most of the games on the Xbox360 seem to be teenage orientated, though the age ratings seem to vary as to wether it is content or difficulty. In most cases if they have the explicit cotent word they hang a 16 on it then you play a car game and it has a 12 on it!!..There must be an easier solution.. Maybe a colour coded system as to why it is age related.
Here is a link to see a review. If your child is into the basics of games like viva pinata etc he might struggle, howevr on the other hand £4.93 let him have a blast !!
