£19410 for the base spec Polo GTI which is the same car.

So you shop at Netto do you? I prefer my food to come from M&S.

But, bread is bread at the end of the day.

Audi A1 comes in at around this price, much rather drive one of those to be honest, the spec won't be too much different either, apart from the 0-60 which is a second or two slower.

No - funnily enough thats like comparing a perodua to a Bentley.

Audi A1 actually comes in at £19525

The guy said it's a Skoda and you wanted clarification that it was? So I suggested you look at the badge.

Oh and to answer your next question, a Citroen and a Fiat. So as you can see I'm not snobby. :)

Depends on what version you go for though, that would be the top end highest spec version I believe

Yeah, I know... hence the reason for mentioning them. I rather pay the extra 10k to save myself the embarrassment of telling people I drive a S...S....Skoda.

Correct which is the same spec as what the Fabia is that the OP has posted hence a valid comparsion instead of a base spec 1.2 A1 against a top spec Fabia.

I would have to compare the spec, but I doubt you would need to go top end to match this Fabia, not that I have voted on it.

HAHA pathetic - Where have you been the last 15years - what do you drive out of interest?

Skoda - consistently in the top 5 in the JD Power (or whatever its called nowadays) and the Yeti and Superb have come in as car of the year with various critics and magazines.

Ok, apart from all the stupid comments this seems like a decent car... good spec and made by VW / Audi... I bet half of the people moaning dont even drive a decent car anyway.

I like this car.

I have had 3 VW's and an Audi A3. Now have an Octavia VRS 170 CR DSG. Exactly the same inside as a Golf with more extras and was £11k cheaper. I could almost buy this Fabia with the change.

I presume you haven't bought yourself down low enough to even consider driving a Skoda then?

Skoda = VW + Better Customer Service

Not even going to get involved in the arguments with the badge snobs that clearly know zero about cars. I'd love to get some Asda t-shirts and stick a designer logo on them just to triple the price and sell them to the same badge snobs!

I've voted hot because it's a good price.
It would be interesting to compare it with a slightly used example in terms of price but these things seem to hold their price quite well so I suspect this is well worth it.

I'm just going to hope the other half doesn't see this because we decided a new one of these was slightly out of our budget recently so bought something else, she'll cry if she sees this price because it would have been inside budget.

vw / audi may make skoda but you can tell the difference in the build quality i have driven many of all three makes and would rather have a vw or audi for there build quality and comfort

Skoda and VW can be compared to some degree, but would still choose the VW everytime, it'll hold its value a lot better.
Skoda and audi are in a different league completely...

Not really. There is now at least a 7month waiting list for the Diesel engined Octavias. Mine has done 10k and is 8months old and can still get almost what i paid for it. In fact the dealers are phoning up customer asking to buy them back as that many people are waiting for them.

Skoda and Audi are in the same league. The Superb and Octavia are of identical build quality in my opinion. I can't comment on the Fabia as I haven't been in one or an A1.
