Needed some decent quality xbox headphones to replace my broken Turtle Beaches and these seem to be the best. Also, a decent price aswell, usually about a tenner more.

Not quite sure, the Turtlebeach ones did, and to use the mic I presume these will aswell.
#3
These look really good, better than the flimsy official ones.

right....after a bit of digging i found this - http://www.skullcandy.com/lowrider-xbox-360-wiring-diagram .......the only thing is, I am more confused than before looking at it!

Do they connect to the controller and back of the 360???

controller and red/white rca--nonsense

Just spent ages trying to find this out!

Look like a bargain compared to the Turtle Beaches then.

for £10 more you get Turtle beaches - which IMHO are far superior to ANYTHING ive tried - including these...
#10
How do these work with HDMI connected xboxes?

they dont.
#12
Voted cold, due to skullcandy having poor build quality and the fact that they have to be plugged into the back of the tv as well as the controller.
#13
Actually they do work with the HDMI out.

As long as you have the RCA plugged in too, you can pass the video over HDMI to the TV and plug the headphones in the RCA outs and just mute the TV, that's what I used to do when i lived in a flat.

Are you serious? How else do you expect the sound to get to the headset? The controller simply controls the MICROPHONE, hence on the wiring diagram it states "MIC OUT".

ANY headset you get WILL have to connect to the XBOX or TV.

Some people seriously :x

That's simply not true. The headset that comes with the Xbox only connects to the controller, and then there's the wireless headset with physically connects to nothing but your ear: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-Wireless-Headset/dp/B000HKD6EK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1266853040&sr=8-1
#19
Yes, but those don't give you in game sound. These headphones not only give you chat but also in game sounds (like plugging headphones in your TV - late nights anyone?)

yeah but you don't get sound (ie game sound) with either of those, you only get voice from other players

hmm, so you clearly didn't presume that I've had plenty of experience with skullcandy's products.

don't assume that everyone with an opposing opinion is trolling

p.s. oh and i'm sure that many people will back me up when I say that skullcandy's headphones generally have terrible sound-quality, overpowering bass, and sub-par build quality.
#22
I'm not disputing wether you get sound or not.
I'm just saying there's headsets that don't need to go into the TV.

Jelly said: "ANY headset you get WILL have to connect to the XBOX or TV"

Which simply isn't true.

I'm more than happy with my skullcandy headphones.
#24
Sold...Should reduce me turning the house into a warzone at 2am and as much as she dosent give me aggro for it im sure that it must be annoying.

Do they come with a filter for all the frustrated expletives which will now be the only noise in the house?

good for you - no sarcasm intended. just of of interest, which ones do you have?
#26
I had some of these and they sucked, if your going to get a decent headset go turtle beech although the price is good although the product is flimsy and not that great. but thats my opinion.

skull candy are overpriced tat. (this is based on listening to my daughters pair which are awful)

if you want gaming nirvana get a set of Audio Technica ATH-AD700 and if funds are available a
Astro mixamp.

5.1 surround sound goodness.
#28
got a turtle beach myself and these are ****. the only good thing about these is the looks
#29
Voted cold unfortunately, i had a pair of these and the GI version aswell, both suffer from the same problem, being you cant hear what people say whilst playing a game, even with the ingame sound turned all the way down i could never hear what my friends were saying.
Turtlebeach are far better as you can change the voice volume separately to the ingame volume.
banned#31
Build quality is terrible! i have had two pairs and both broke! Sound isnt brilliant either!
#32

Cannot see these being that good when they have a much more expensive product to flog.

Me too - lovely hubby bought them for me... AMAZING :w00t:

I just got a Steelseries headset adapter which allows you to use any PC headset. The better option in my opinion.

If you're after a 360 specific headset though, this looks like a good price.

I use exactly the same device. Excellent bit of kit and means that you can use the much better quality PC headphones that are normally half the cost of 360 ones!

As an owner of some of the cheaper Turtle Beach headsets i'd say their build quality is terrible! Not at all worth the money they ask.

Anyone voting these cold for needing to be plugged into the back of the TV/360 is clueless..

In this price range you just will not get a wireless headset, it needs to be connected for the game audio!

The Astro headsets mentioned look like the best available for 360 but they are very very expensive..

That Steelseries adapter looks like a good idea, cheapest I can find it is £12 though :-/

How much are the Astros a pair? Just got some Earforce X41's (7.1 surround sound effort), and they are pretty phenomenal.

£209 for package
#39
Yup paid £209 head lots of news of noise problems with the wirelessness of the X41's so I opted for the a40s! :) the headphones work on any device with a headphone socket too! :)

Very glad I went for they they are great! :)
#40
good price - do you need to connect one wire to the controller and one to the xbox?
