Unlimited downloads is good. No calls included so need to keep that in mind. Good deal though.

My sky broadband just gone live last week, missed out the prepaid master card deal, and now this.

Cracking deal, should be hotter. Ideal for those who get a decent speed and don't require fibre speeds. Would have been perfect for my inlaws if they weren't already with sky. Can also add unlimited calls for £8 a month. I'm amazed some people are voting cold because of the speed at this price! Worth having even if you don't use broadband for line only. Worth noting though, if your line speed is less than 2MB sky will refuse you as a customer.

Question. Is the router any good ?

Never have high expectation for those provided by the ISP, just use your own if unhappy about the sky hub

As part of the OFCOM regulation, you can cancel within the cooling off period without termination fee. In the case of Sky BB, it's 31 days if my memory is correct

any good for gaming ?

any good for gaming ?

Depends on your max speed with ADSL/copper wire, but fibre certainly a better option.

The sky SR102 is absolute trash. b/g/n 2.4ghz single channel only, 3 years old, integrated power supply that makes high pitch coil whine, mediocre wifi range, 100mb LAN ports.

It works, but it's very basic.

Consider the annual rental, you can't really complain, you can always use your own router if you like

what a good deal. I was supposed to have virgin broadband installed in 2 weeks but I just rang to cancel and I will get this one. I dont need fast internet so if I can get 7-8Mb which I am getting now with BT I will be happy. One question, Can I use the BT 4 Hub I am using now with Sky? I am happy with it and I wonder if it will work with Sky

SKY don't give you the logon details needed to use your own router, hence you are stuck with theirs.
It isn't great, I agree, wifi range is poor.
You can extract the logon details if you are technically minded. There are sites which tell you how to do this.
It's not for the average user. Better to get a range extended if the wifi is not good enough.

There is, or at least used to be a way of using hh5 on sky. It is against sky's T&C's though and they say they can terminate your service for using an unauthorised router. To be fair I've been with sky for a year and didn't notice any difference from the HH5 in use, although there is a big difference on paper.

Sky won't let you use your own router. Found that one out! You can effectively tively turn one of your router's in to a separate effective WiFi hotspot after connecting via an ethernet socket to the Sky supplied router, but it takes a bit of fiddling.

You don't vote cold because it's not for you. This is a smashing deal! Maybe of no use for you but still excellently priced

When does this expire as I need to cancel my sky which finishes in August
#35
OP. Can you give a little more info/detail on how this deal works.

Thanks

I ordered this deal, got a connection date for 17 march...now my current provider, BT, emailed me to say they will charge me £55 for their router as lam leaving before the end of my contract (end date is 22 march). so for 5 days they are going to hammer me. I called sky and they can't change the date...damn it ...Any idea on how to sort out this mess? I tried to get another sky code with another email but failed as it says one code per household

Well I was able to extract my details with wireshark and been using Asus n66u for 2 years. Difference is like the heavens and the earth.

My cousin on 3rd sr102 with sky, WiFi keeps dropping. I've got hh5 but apparently it can't b used to replace sky box because no place to put in login details
