I really rate Sky Broadband, so I've voted hot (even though it's not applicable to me, as I'm already on the unlimited package).

You'll probably get the Sky netgear DG934G (a dg834g v3 in a black case with sky firmware on it) or possibly the Sky Sagem F@ST 2504 - both are wireless G.
https://www.cm9.net/skypass/ if you want to use something else, but keep the sky router as you'll need it if you ever want support.

All I would advise to anybody considering this offer is - read the small print, and be aware that once you're signed up SKY Customer Service is non existent!

I really rate Sky Broadband, so I've voted hot (even though it's not applicable to me, as I'm already on the unlimited package).
They used to do the Netgear (great modem/routers); recently they changed to Sagems (rubbish modem/router); in both cases they were G, I don't know whether they supply N routers for the high-end package. Also, Sky don't allow you to use your own routers, they don;t let you have the logon info and password for a start and they can (and apparently have) blocked lines using people's own router. I don't know why they would do this, but they do. Their justification is about providing simple high quality support on a single product.

They capped me as I was on the unlimited package and still said I downloaded loads :x
Plus you don't have to use skys router as there is software that extract your user and password from their box and then you can use that on the the one that you have already been using.
But when you phone sky up they will know what kind of router that you are using.

Personally I dont think unlimited should be allowed to be used by any company unless its truely unlimited, and if the fair use policy says for example 60Gb then this should be used instead of unlimited. You cannot moan at Sky for this one though as they all do it.
For broadband though, if you are in a Sky broadband enabled area then you will get the best broadband and service I have found anywhere. I currently have the everyday package and I get 8.5mbps speed which is very good. Cant wait to see what I get with the unlimited package I have just signed up to.

For me it was always on, always there, performed well and never disconnected. I only left for a better deal very recently. If they had started this deal a couple of months ago I would probably have stayed.
However, I did manage to get switched to fastpath when I originally signed up to their mid package, which made a difference to playing online games. Prior to that, playing online QuakeIII on interleaved sucked big time. I don't think it would be such an issue on their max package though.

Any techies on to answer me this? According to SamKnows the Max package can utilise ADSL2+, but I'm 3.5km away from the exchange. I get around 0.9MB at the moment, will I get a bump or will they keep me on the standard ADSL due to distance from the exchange?
