Hi all,

First post here and apologies if it is a repost.
I did have a look anyway but couldn't see anything.

Anyway, Signed up to Sky through quidco and took the basic package with HD, This gives a free Sky HD+ box, Free installation, £50 M&S vouchers and your £85 quidco.

I didn't think of signing up through a friend/family member to get them £50 M&S vouchers too so that could be extra to add to the list.

You can make more than that through Quidco as they have up to £100 back on Sky at the moment.

£10 for Broadband Lite upgrade

£20 for Broadband Unlimited upgrade

£10 for Broadband Lite as part of a bundle (new customer)

£15 for Broadband Unlimited as part of a bundle (new customer)

£5 for ESPN

£50 for Standalone Broadband/ Sky Broadband + Talk (new customer without Sky TV)

£75 for Sky+ with Sky Sports or Sky Movies (single or Pack) + £25 M&S voucher from Sky (£50 paid once your sale is complete, £25 loyalty bonus after 6 months)

£5for upgrades to Sky HD (existing customers)

£2.50 for upgrades to Sky Movies (existing customers)

£3 for upgrades to Sky Sports (existing customers)

£85 for HD + HD Pack** (+£50 M&S voucher from Sky)

What is ur point?

I think the link is on the blink, it just takes me elsewhere, but hot if it is correct or I can get there.
#3
i think you would have been better off waiting till after xmas no doubt the half price for 12 months would have been back, you could have had all channels for half price,
#4
What is my point? I thought it was a good deal. I initially was going to sign up for Freesat, I decided to go this way so after 12 month I can cancel it and get freesat cheaper than what it should have cost.

Hmm your right, The link isn't working. It is just the normal sign up way for Sky+ HD with the HD package. Just remember to go through Quidco!!
#5
You don't need to 'sign up' for Freesat because freesat is subscription free.
#6
True, But I wasn't really looking for the extra channels as I didn't really see the point of getting them as I work away from home most of the month. This way works out cheaper to get all equipment and an HD box for me.
When I did get Freesat, I was wanting the extra HD channels so this requires a small subscription. That is my reasoning. Hopefully it helps someone else.

Those prices look expensive, I don't pay anywhere near £100 and that's what package I have. Plus they charge you £15 for plugging in the HD box yourself. Lol

They are what you get for cashback - not what you pay.

So after 12 months of paying sky £29 per month, deducting £50 of vouchers you have to spend at M&S and POSSIBLY £85 cashback that works out at £213.
Only problem is that if you leave sky you won't be able to record any channels as the recording facility gets cancelled.
Alternatively, if you already have a dish you could buy a decent humax freesat recorder for around the £200 mark and still be able to record after 12 months.
Even if you had to install a dish too i'd think that was still a better option than sky purely for the recording facility and you wouldn't be tied-in to a contract.

The mecca when it comes to sky deals is to get half price for 12 months. This seems to come about in two ways. You get a rare friends and family code from a sky employee or you have been a customer who left sky in the last year and have got a flyer with a 1/2 price offer included. Some cheeky people would then phone up to cancel and perhaps get six months half price again.

Supposing the HD Pack, Sub and Sky Sports, usually 49/m this would work out at 24.50 for the first year or 18 months. Quidco is not assured here, you must at least complete online. Mine tracked for 100 without the broadband, but you are already getting the family code so you may not get other offers. Then the 50 M&S vouchers too.

If we take the M&S as a cash amount that would be six months free, 6 months halfprice and possible further six months half price after 12 months. Selling the HD box and dish after a year may net you 75 quid, a further compensation of 3 months. This has the obvious implication that you would have to have a plan for your future tv viewing that may not involve sky.

I think that fairly summarises all the tricks to get sky cheap, how ethical it all is, is another matter.

I see what you are saying there but the way I see it is £175 for freesat (Which I was told by Sky only comes with a SD box) then £10 x 12 for HD subscription is £295 in total for the year plus you would still have to buy a HD box.

Doing it this way and gaining extra channels for a year does work out cheaper really.

Are you talking specific HD channels?
Otherwise someone is giving you duff information.
Check out this link found very quickly through google: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001L5YU36/ref=asc_df_B001L5YU361548917?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=****&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B001L5YU36

Every hd channel this box receives is free.

Extra HD channels. I wouldn't pay sky for something that is free elsewhere. Who would??
I should have maybe titled this one How to get freesat cheaper in the long run though. My mistake. I really should think about the titles before posting.

I'm on half price now for 6 months and speaking to them I reckon that will be the norm going forward. The extra cost of HD channels has to go and to be honest, their movies are of no use whatsoever.

Never worth £60+ but easily the best deal around £30/40.

Does anyone know the free phone number to ring and see if will do half price deal?
Thanks

Just a tip for anyone thinking of getting sky - go on ebay every quarter and a host of Sky installers sell there Family and Friends tokens - Half price for a whole year. Usually sell them for £50 so you basically save around £30-35 a month on the full sky+ HD pack.

Some pretty good tips there. Thanks!!
