Just got off the phone to Comet
Apparently if you buy anything (e.g. a pack of batteries) in store you get a half price sky HD box.
Added to this new Sky customers get £50 of free Comet vouchers
existing Sky customers get free installation for multiroom

The guy also said if you buy online to pickup in store you still get the deal (and 3.5% quidco)

There was a survey.sky.com link earlier too offering it for £149, I imagine it''ll soon hit £199 or £149 next year once the xmas rush is over.

Guess you can in x many rooms for £10 per room up to the allowed level of your phone (units connected) line assuming you are willing to pay this.

I ordered the HD today for a Kettle purchase in Comet but Sky had problems and can't confirm delivery till Sunday.

Since Comet have dropped the price of the Sony KDL-46X2000U set from £4500 to £2861 we have got a real reason to get the Sky HD half price with them instead of buying a set of batteries :)

Only thing that would be good now is if there are any Comet discount vouchers for LCD TV's like that of Currys or Dixons.

Our shopping list so far will at least include the following:
Sony KDL-46X2000U LCD TV
5 Year Warranty on above set (Comet price of £530 but direct quote from D&G is £450 - barter point :))
Sony RDR HXD860 DVD HDD Recorder
Wall bracket - TBC
2x HDMI, 2x Scart, 1x Optical, 1x Component Cables - TBC (only really need 1x HDMI and 1x Scart at the moment but we are running the cables into the wall so want to fit all possible cable needs now so there are no external cables if we buy another external box which needs a HDMI/SCART/Component connection).

With a shopping list so far we are planning to do some bartering tomorrow as well as taking up the Sky HD deal.

First thing you need is a Comet or Woolies employee who is a "mate" or "relative", that will net you 10% right away with their card.

Princerunner then, £2510 & up.

I wouldn't bother about the accs. (leads etc.) They are always available cheap elsewhere.

Then again you could always befriend an employee. :santa: for the employee dscount.

We have Sky+ and multi-room. Called them today and they said if we got an HD box we would have to pay the £60 installation and they would also move our + box upstairs and put the second cable in to that. All we would have to pay would be another £10 a month.
My only concern is that this is £10 extra and they are broadcasting hardly any channels in HD at the minute, so is it really worth getting yet?

You have Sky + at xx per month + Multiroom at £10 per month.

Is the HD worth another £10 per month, that's up to you?

At the moment I would & will pay £10 pm to sample HD. If it aint any good or the box is not up to the job I'll be the first to ask for my money back.

As for paying for Multiroom, why, not me, I pay for the channels & if they can't get me a way to "watch what I want where I want" then I wont pay for the privelage.

We were originally planning to go with Sound & Vision Online although we've also checked out prices with a few other sites and a local independant (Canterbury Hifi offered my father the KDL-46X2000U with 5yr warranty and the RDR HXD860 together for £3500).

If we can talk down Comet into at least matching either offers then we may go with them.
