Hi all
Been waiting here to ask someone about sky tv.
Thinking of the sky plus that records,,,, my question is!!!

If i have sky plus and a package for 1 year then cancel the box etc becomes mine, but can I still record on sky plus free on the free channels?
Can I( remove the phone line? and do I need to?
Any help on this would be gr8.
Sorry its not exactly to do with this topic

No my understanding is that the recording functionality is disabled if you are no longer paying. I also hear that you can buy a viewing card that would re-enable the function however not aware of where or how legal that is (as I haven't seen the Sky+ contract).

Are you talking about during your contract or once you are on the free. During you are contracted to keep it in, however it's really only needed to authorise additional purchases and for initial registration (so my installer said).

re above correct - you must be on contract to use the "+" facilities.

no contract no record alas

recording will only work if you are paying x amount per month, the phone line is only really needed for multiroom to prove you havent signed up for multiroom and given the card to john smith down the road for £9/m.
they say you'll get fined if you unplug it, i've unplugged mine several times and nothing has happened and i've only had sky+ for a week or so. if they call and ask why it's unplugged..my cat ate the cable and i had no idea about it. ;-)

I've read that they don't simply "call and ask"; you'll find you've been billed £40 odd quid extra one month and you have to run around the houses calling them for a refund......not fun.

i got one of thesea bit back..
you get a code off tescos and have to ring sky........one week later they still dont know what the code stands for
and i took the code back to tescos and got my money back.

they do that to me and i'll sue them. the guy who fitted it said you don't even need your multiroom plugged in, then another person who did my parents house said you did.
9/10 people who work there are proper thick, been trying to get them to re-pair my sky card for 2 days now, taken 7 phone calls and still no joy.

Thanks for all the info guys regarding plus box............alas no recording then.
And if i dont pay contract after the year then it doesnt matter if the phone line is connected or not surely?

Last question then I will shut up lol
Is there any way to record with say a video recorder from sky instead?

bit harsh since you can pay £30 or something not to have your multiroom plugged in when you sign up. i bet it did take you a few phone calls, ive been trying to get them to re-pair my card since tuesday still hasnt happened, they are really clueless.
