Looks like only for Sky TV customers, and its SIM only currently (phones to follow). Runs on the O2 network

1gb per month = £10
3gb = £15
5gb = £20

But the USP is the fact unused data rolls each month, indefinitely. Could be a game changer for mobile contracts going forward?

Unlimited texts / calls

Data rolling over or not, I'm getting 3GB data a month from BT (so via EE, which means I get 4G in most places) for a net £4.66 a month. I can only rate this as cold I'm afraid.

prices aren't that good.
#5
I didn't even know sky mobile had launched! I asked for an email update too.

Cold. Too expensive. I'm on virgin 20gb for £15 a month with rollover 5000 mins unlimited texts. Better deals can be found on other networks too

Understatement

sky missed a trick with this, only those totally local to them will sign up but don't think anyone is that loyal. It launched last month with a fanfare to employees but by the time they did that it had already been hit with massive comments on here and other social media.

Awful offer. Even pre-pay can offer better data deals than this.
12 month contract also. Even the unlimited texts and calls doesn't make this a great deal. Appreciate you don't have a time machine but I get 4GB data and unlimited texts/calls for £9 with three.

5GB for £20 p/m is shocking really. This is not for data hungry services.
#13
i pay 20 pound for 20gb with bt. before was with life 6gb for 13.50 and my dad now has life 4gb of 4g data for a tenner. so nice concept but too pricey
#14
cold, no where near as cheap as Three or BT

There's some things you're better off not knowing, Matty :)

Really poor. I'm looking for a cheap sim only and can get better options on a rolling contract!

Too pricey. I find it a bit odd that sky mobile comes to the market with an inferior deal as they usually have a reasonable starter price then squeeze you until it hurts.

True, on a 30 dayer - Sky want a 12 month commitment for TV, mobile & 18 months for Fibre - where if you disconnect a decent Sky deal the discounts lost bump your Sky Fibre beyond competitive, all at a time when Virgin is getting cheaper Murdoch and this buy out he is praying for is making Sky very uncompetitive to the market and consumers for the next few years - Sky Atlantic is not even that great in the internet age! And Now TV...must be costing a good loss of revenue the way boxes/passes are subsidised.

No wonder he wants hold of Sky, they are cutting his stakes profits LOL

Sky Mobile, yes heads are in clouds for sure!

Murdoch will prob buy o2, free News Corp newspaper site subs when you have Sky quadplay - TV, Mobile, Internet & active Now TV pass . He must think most UK people are stupid.

Mind you, if he gets Sky UK it will rebrand as Foxtel at some point, there is much value in the Fox brand over Sky. Given Fox own several Sky EU companies as majority & AU (branded Foxtel) having digested its South American and NZ Sky holdings - the name Sky costs Murdoch/Fox alone in licensing unless he buys Sky (UK) Ltd.

Foxtel Mobile may allow unmetered channel streaming though which would be good, I think Telefonica Europe (UK&Germany but excludes Spain, owned by Telefonica Espana) is ripe for a News Corp/Fox takover, Sky UK and Sky Germany would benefit from o2 UK & o2 Germany where they have 100% ownership of both - even now with a minority in Sky UK it would benefit Murdoch/Fox given he would profit from o2 and a minority share in Sky. Sky UK buy out most probable not get through EU (monopoly) but the sale of Telefonica Europe to Murdo/NC/Fox defo would.

Telefonica has been selling o2 divisions off since it bought it, MANY EU o2's sold off, close to home o2 Ire went to Three, Manx Telecom was sold. Telefonica Spain like France Telecom (now fully Orange) spent far to much in major purchases on mobile (o2/Orange) and ended up 50 billion in the red each.

If Murdo/NC/Fox buy o2 Europe (whats left of it LOL) you can bet a market shake up in the UK - 4G may become cheap as chips, already giving free mins/texts...would imagine free Sky TV streaming over data on Sky Mobile with data allowances beating Virgin.

Interesting times ahead...

Whoever has come up with this at Sky is a million miles away from the mark.

Anyone who takes one of these contracts better hide their identity in shame.
Maybe upon taking a sim sky sell your details to telephone scammers as you have proven you're ripe to be conned!

I've been on a sim only for a while. I was out of contract and I saw all the deals others were offering. You just have to phone them, go to cancellations team and be nice. Let them offer you something and then ask if there is anything else they can throw in
