If you ring up and ask something along the lines of 'I'm an existing customer, why no good deals for me' you might get offered something like this.

You don't even have to threaten to cancel, you just ask of there's any offers for you, the 'loyal customer'

Guy at the other end said 'If you do not wish to continue your subscription to Sky movies/sports, cancellation will be very straightforward and you will not have to pay a cancellation fee... If you wish to do this you must cancel within your three month period.

So it's an offer designed to 'Hook you in' to the premium channels, but you are free to cancel before the end of the three month period, so, why not?

If you're voting cold please tell me why?!

you have to phone somewere to complain that you get nothing?

If you phoned me I would say, pay for it, as thats what I do, I wanted movies so I pay for it.

They offered me 3 months movies when I started with them and did not have to ask, they just sent me an email, so i am voting cold,

It's called READING.

You don't have to threaten to cancel, just say you are a loyal customer and want a better deal, simple as.

You want it so will pay full price for it? Oh come on... free for 3 months means you save something like £40, for a 10 minute phone call... some people would call that a 'good deal' but if you don't think that £40 is worth 10 minutes of your time then I respect your vote...

if you have previously dealt with an issue with sky, you would know how long it would take you to get it resolved, so i would say cancelling wouldn't be going smoothly as you say it would, voting cold

Hot from me - I've never had any issues downgrading my viewing package. I'm currently on the £3 a month deal for Sky Sports so I'll try this when it runs out!

Moron!
This site is for good 'deals' and to help save money, and that is what this post does.

i havent paid full price for as long as i can remember now, have had 20% off for 6 months over and over, so its about £37 for everything, not a massive saving i know but everytime i call up at the end of the 6 months they offer me the same offer again so keep on taking it.

Voting cold as I don't believe this is a deal rolled out by Sky. I am not doubting you got it but thats not to say everyone that calls is entitled to it (I wasn't when I called).

It's a good trick and I have done it a few times before but Sky are not currently advertising 3 months free movies/sports to existing customers.

What's the best number to ring them on? I've been meaning to ring Sky for a while as we want to upgrade to HD and get someone out to look at why our Sky+ signal isn't very good - would prefer to get through to a UK call centre, if such a thing exists!

Go to Services then Telephone numbers and phone 'Sky HD' directly.

It's all a bit vague though isn't it. Not really a proper "deal".
My experience is that it's always random as to what you might get offered when you phone to ask about upgrades or cancelling.

I rang them a few weeks ago to remove Sky Sports and Movies. They asked me why, and I said the football season had finished and I'm not watching the movies as much... they then went on to offer me 3 months at half price, saving about £40 squid.

I would recommend anyone to give them a call!

Yes, I did that too - but they didn't offer anything.

Just phoned using the 0800 number above. Just said I have been looking else where at other deals (i.e Virgin, BT) and a friend recommended I call sky to see what offers I may be able to get.
Was first offered 6 months free HD, but I said i didnt want to get tied into a 12 month contact, then he offered 6 months half price subscription, which ofcourse i took, saving £20 a month for 6 months :-)

It all depends on your package and how long you have been with them, for me 9 years.
Deals I have had previously include: 12 months free line rental, 3 months half price subscription, 6 months half price subscription, free movies for 6 months, half price broadband, free unlimited broadband.

agreed. Its a tip, not a deal as not guaranteed.

Just called them, asked if there was anything for loyal customers, got nothing, said there was no offers from the call centre at all, even said i was possible moving to Virgin, still nothing...
