SKY Multiroom Half Price £5.00 for Digital Switch Over Areas

robbieukrangerrobbieukranger

Just called SKY to enquire about multiroom & have learnt the lesson always to call twice because you always get different prices & offers.

The first one was £60 installation charge plus £10 the second call they told me about a digital switch over over in Wales & other parts of the UK so you get free installation & only £5 a month charge for multiroom

Not a bad deal I think

Hope it helps someone

that £5 multi room only applies if you havent got sky sports or sky movies , even if they ring you up and offer you half price sky sports as soon as they find out you got £5 multi room they will tell you that it changes to £10 cos you have got a premium package

Above is true, I have not got the premium package so I benefit from this deal.
But it is a great deal for people who do not know about it though a fiver a month saving is not to be sniffed at! Heat added.

I rang and they were having none of it, only get free installation and £5 permonth if you have HD so it will be £15 per month. Rang twice and spoke with two different people and a supervisor...........

They said 1st box if HD will be free installation but £15 per month, the 2nd standard box will be free installation, free box £10 per month.

Then final 2 will be £48 per box with free installation and £10 per month each

so about £100 down payment and £45 extra per month

I want multiroom in 4 bedrooms, anyone know the best way to get it?

As a Freesat user without Sky I find Sky's prices unbelieveable. If £50-odd a month wasn't bad enough, charging extra for HD and for TVs in other rooms is a real rip off. I suggest ditching Sky and spending the money you save on a Lovefilm blu-ray rental subscription and a season ticket at your local football club!

Knock your walls down!! - Seriously though I think if sky are getting this much from a customer, they should do a deal even if for 12 months - worth haggling all the time with Sky, they usually come up with something.

This is SKY we are talking about LOL ! . I have rang up before and been offered a free repair on my broken sky+ box only to call back an hour later to except there kind offer to be told that it is £60 to get it fixed so i can watch there £50 a month service 'take it or leave it'. There was a post on hotdeals a few weeks back saying if you rang up sky and told them you wanted to leave they would offer you 6 months half price TV package or 12 months 25% off your TV package but to be polite as it would get you further. I rand and within 3 mins of being polite to the lady at the other end i now have my SKY t.v package for 50% less for 6 months. It seems with them it depends on which operator you have, if they think you are tring to pull a swifty or if the wind is blowing from the south that day :| .

this £5 multi room because you have no movies or sport is called multiroom lite, be careful if you take out this offer and are then offered at a later date cut price movies or sports for a limited period because you will then be charged £10, when you come to cancel the movies etc they do not reduce you back to £5 and when you question this many of their telephone staff have never heard of multiroom lite , it took me 6 months to get mine reduced back to £5 very frustrating!!

Sky ripoff anyway you look at it
    pet2000
Not a ripoff if people want to pay. No-one is forced to take Sky.

No harm in trying :)... Any successes?

It's not true multi-room, but if you had two boxes, you could use the RF2 output on each to connect a second tv in a separate room to each. If you have a "magic eye" kit and additional controller (available on Ebay), then you can change the channel from any of your 4 TV/Sky remotes.

Downsides are that you can only watch 2 different channels between the 4 TVs, you'd need to run wires and the signal won't be HDMI, but it isn't expensive to do and works well.

Ideally use this to avoid loss of signal.

Thinking about it, if you're going to bother running cables from one or two boxes around the house, then you may as well run HDMI as well as the RF2 to each TV.

Use the HDMI for the TV signal and use the RF2 and magic eye to be able to use a remote controller.

For future proofing, you may as well run HDMI that can handle a 3D signal too.

I phoned Sky stating that I am looking at adding 2 multi-rooms and wanted to know if I could get Multi-room lite. They asked me where I head about it and stated it was online.

Well they were willing to add Multi-room Lite for £5 and the other room would be £10. I said that was a shame as Virgin only charge £5 per room and were they willing to "budge". Wa told no and that was the best they could do.

Rang Sky and although they were aware of offer they said it is only for customers who have been sent a special offer. I disputed this and still no joy so think maybe it is time Sky stopped cherry picking who they think is worthy of such offers and made it clear what is on offer to all of their loyal customers as I have been with them for umpteen years. Am obviously not worthy to get sent the offer despite having taken out Sky HD this June and also must have got through to someone who didn't want to share the offer with me. Was polite as always and beginning to wonder if that pays? Maybe time to move my custom elesewhere?

why do we allow sky to get off with this cavalier attitude. I have been a sky customer for yonks , wanted to add muli room with a new hd box . was told that would have to pay £249 for the box, £60 fitting, £10 a month additional hd subscription a month even though we allready pay this and £10 multi room, not concerned at all that we would cancel the whole deal !

I'vve just got SkyHD box with the HD selection for free. They added a 25% discount to my total bill when I asked for it
