I have just received a call from Vodafone to say that they have teamed up with Sky to offer customers Sky on their mobiles. For £5 a month you can get all the sports channels on your mobile. You can of cuorse get the music channels and all the others at a seperate amount of £5. The first month is free.
I have just opted for the sports channels and I have just spent the afternoon watching some cricket and golf! I asked a whole load of questions which I will reserve the first post for a self Q&A.

How much does it cost to connect to the internet to select the channel you want to watch? Nothing. You choose this via Vodafone live which is free to browse from your handset

Can you cancel at any time and how much notice do you need?
You can cancel anytime and its not a contract. Notice is usually instaneous.

How will I get charged?
This will be applied to your bill

Can I like this up to a PC to watch it on the monitor?
Yes, using your own USB cable

I really doubt it will allow you to watch on monitor, but with tvout cable, can watch it on TV

You can. If you have real player downloaded on your phone or PC you can. I have just tried it and it works.

Sounds ok, I wonder what the quality is like. I guess not great unless you're in a good 3g area.

I have a Nokia N95 and its great quality. The streaming I think it ever so slightly delayed so you dont get interrupted viewing. I was incredibly impressed/surprised when it came through!

Wouldnt like to consider it as a great deal because I have sky on my T-Mobile account for the last 8 months... :whistling:

But good for those who are not on T-Mobile

Id recommend getting a slingbox more than just using this voda / sky service as it lets you watch all channels from whatever tv service you have and not just the sport.

The slingbox lets you playback from sky + and have access to anything your tv can access, even if its cable, on your mobile (with a compatible handset) or on a laptop using wifi

Anyone using 3 can also get the slingbox for free if they use xseries gold

Fantastic service, cant recommend it enough

they have had sky on voda handsets for ages... I used to have it, then realised that watching tv on a 2 inch screen is rubbish!
This ain't hot... not new, not special price... just a normal thing they offer...

Next post will be saying that a ps3 has built in blue ray, wot a bargin!!

This isnt necessarily a site for NEW deals. Not everyone has the same knowledge as you so just because you already know about this doesnt mean that 100,000 other members also do.

I agree - I bought this from Vodafone for same price last year - if you live in an area that doesnt offer great internet access through your phone then dont bother as itll never work. I live in Birmingham and amazingly the reception is terrible all the way into the city centre (Bristol Road) which is my journey to work. I checked a reception map and sure enough that area was prone to bad mobile net connections. I cancelled this TV service due to it being v patchy. All they do is stream it to your handset. Nothing new, same price as it always was.

Did you read the rest of my post? I also concluded it wasn't a DEAL, I have no problem with OLD deals, as long as it's a deal... this one isn't. Not only is it old news (and the same knowledge? It was pimped to me by Voda, on the Voda site, advertised on TV... if this was privelidged info, they did it very badly!) but it is also NOT A DEAL, as it is their normal price and normal first month free...

Just like normal...

First month free of charge....how is that not a deal?!

Blimey... which bit are you missing!? It's ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY, as I recall, (not been with voda for a little while) but you can take ALL their 'add-ons' on a months free trial, from mobile tv, to mobile internet, to video calling... Once more, just in case you missed it, it is their NORMAL PRICE AND PRACTISE...

Good value? That's something else to argue, but a hot deal? I suppose it could be if you have managed to miss it for the last year...
And for anyone else, DVD's can currently be found much cheaper on line than in high street shops ;)

Practice should be with a c, not an s.
You have missed the point entirely and being VERY dismissive which I hate.

ONCE MORE - Just because they have offered this when you have been on a contract doesnt mean that everyone knows about it which is why I have brought it to peoples attentions via this site.
