cheapest way of getting sky, i think apart from using a sky employee code, which you aint really entitled, usuaully costs £75 so theres a fair bit knocked off, plus you could buy it and give to someone as a present, as all your buying is a box and a code inside it, which you give to sky up on registration, only then everything gets put onto someones name

use code - XXNKNQ at checkout

Exclusive to new Sky TV customers who have not taken up our free dish and box offer in the past. For £75 this pack gives you access to over 200 free digital TV channels - AND 4 months of the 4 most popular Sky Entertainment Mixes (normally £20 a month). After 4 months you will continue to receive Sky TV for £20 a month. Let Sky know before then if you no longer want to receive Sky TV and you can continue watching the free channels

Sky Digibox, Minidish, Cabling and Professional 'standard installation' included. Once you receive your pack the first thing youll need to do is call Sky on 08442 414 414 and quote your unique reference number located inside the pack to arrange your professional installation. Youll need your credit card or Direct Debit details to hand when you call, which allow you to order Pay Per View movies and events and continue to watch Sky TV at the end of your 4 months*. Leave the rest to us. Our professional engineer will bring everything you need and get you set for the digital switchover." *After 4 months you will continue to receive Sky TV for £20 a month. Let us know before then if you no longer want to receive Sky TV and you can continue watching the free channels. (Please note that this product is not available to exisiting Sky customers)

can you buy and get installed by sky in republic of ireland?
#3
if you can see dishes on peoples houses on your street or close by i guess you would be able to then, or you could just ring sky up to check.

No, that's called Sky+ which I believe they charge extra for.

Don't suppose anyone has a list of channels that are free?

A question that may help a few, and don't wnat to detract from the deal but just wondering, I have had Sky before and still have the dish up and working and a Panasonic Sky box which still works. What's the best option to get Sky back at minimal set up and monthly cost? However no point in just replicating Freeview channels. Is this pack any use to me?

I don't think it will be much use to you if you are already getting the FTA and FTV channels. You'll get new equipment and a few months worth of packages before you either switch it back to free channels or start paying a subscription. That about it..

This is a good deal though. I had it installed this year and switched it back to free channels. Better than Freeview.

Nope, If you haven't got a land line you have to pay a £25 activation charge. You can have Skysports and Movies but would have to pay for them, You can choose 2 value packs i,e Kids and Variety.

this is true on standard Sky subscriptions, but would like to confirm if it's defo the case for this offer. As I have a sky + box spare I'd like to get it for my aging folks and want to take away the pain of video recording which they currently still do!! If all I need to do is pay an install experience it for 4 months, not subscribe but still enjoy sky + it seems too good to be true?

Sky+ is still £10 a month if you don't subscribe to any of the Sky pay tv services. So the guy who wanted to use his old Sky+ box with this service would only get the first four months use out of it unless he continued with his subscription. If he cancelled and just continued watching the free Sky channels, the sky plus functionality would no longer work....

I think...

AFAIK, Sky+ recording facilities are only available with a subscription package. I guess that means it would work for the free months IF a dual LNB is included in the kit. You would also need to pay for or install for yourself a 2nd cable from the LNB to the Sky+ box.

If you cancel at the end of the free trial you will have to pay £10 per month to continue using Sky+ (including viewing recorded programmes).

That is correct. It is free only if you subscribe to sky. They used to charge you £10 on top of your subscription for sky+.

I got this package about a year ago and when I moved house I tried to cancel it as I only had 2 months remaining and couldn't be bothered switching it across etc but they wouldn't let me cancel. I calleed them again and explained the situation but they insisted that I had to be with them a minimum of 12 months before cancelling, although on the small print of the contract it clearly states theat you can cancel. I then wrote a lttter to them via recorded delivery and then moved out. Since then I have had mail forwarded to me explaining that I have an unpaid debt of £93 and that debt collectors are after me.
BUY WITH CAUTION!!!!! I would recommend recording the initial coversation and ask the sky customer service repeatedly that you CAN cancel if need be.
#32
Voted hot and very tempted. I am tempted to buy this then in a few months buy a freeat HD box as I dont yet have a dish. I would be interested in more comments

Think its standard that they install dual LNBs now, but you could be cheeky enough to ask the engineer to fit a dual cable. He may charge you extra for this tho, but would save you hassle if you did get a sky plus box.

I was told they only carry whats needed for the day and no way even with an offer or financial reward.

Easy enough to do yourself though.

We took this deal out a few months ago and would recommend.

Our freeview reception through an aerial was poor, so rather than upgrade the aerial we had a Sky dish installed instead and we now have a brilliant reception and received 4 months viewing of Sky channels all for £75 (less Quidco via Dixons), whereas upgrading our aerial was going to cost £120.

Installation was carried out within a week.

Sky admin can be a bit of a nightmare to deal with, you must set-up a payment method should you decide to continue after the 4 months, would suggest you use Direct Debit as YOU can easily cancel this rather than relying on Sky. You must also remember to contact Sky to cancel otherwise after the 4 months they will start charging you.

Our 4 months has just passed so we have cancelled our contract and are waiting for a possible offer..... as kids loved all the extra childrens channels but cant justify paying £20 a month just for these.
#36
Pay once watch forever?.... BUT you have to pay £20 per month as long as you want to 'watch forever'.

Whatever.

If you don’t have a dish already it's a bit of a no brainer and a foot in the door for Non-Sky Free HD TV.

For £63.30 you get a dish, installation and a basic $ky box and viewing card to keep forever and you get to watch 4 months of Sky Mix Channels worth about £70. Cancel the $ky subscription before the 4 months is up and you can then watch 200+ FTA channels on your $ky box forever for free.

Now here's the best bit. You can also get yourself a HD Freesat box like the Humax Foxsat £120- £150 (£100 or less off E-bay) and you'll have BBC HD and ITV HD or invest in the new HUMAX Freesat PVR which is like Sky HD+ (you'll need a twin/quad LNB and twin cable for this so bribe or pay the original installer about £20 - I was charged an extra 20 and got a warranty receipt.)

At some stage maybe flog the Sky Box and get a few quid back as Humax one will pick up $ky free to air + Freesat.

In my case, I needed a new Freeview aerial & coax installation anyway which would doubtless cost me more than £75 and a Freesat dish installation is £80 without a box.

It's a win win situation at Murdochs expense as far as I'm concerned.

Freesat HD costs zero per month! (& all the FTA channels)

we did this deal a while back.
It was straight forward to set up, but after we cancelled they kept on trying to bill us for the rest of a standard 12 month contract. This happened every month for 3 months but eventually it got sorted. The people in the call centres don't get told about these deals so half the time have no idea what you mean when you ring up and mention 'pay once watch forever'. Sky needs better internal communications in their call centres.
